Description

Step into Blitz-era London, uncover stories of extraordinary resilience, and see the city as Winston Churchill saw it. This in-depth walking tour covers iconic Westminster landmarks, reimagined through the lens of wartime London. Learn how Parliament endured bombings and how Churchill played a key role in its survival. Discover the damage to Westminster Abbey and Big Ben, and how Churchill himself narrowly escaped death at Downing Street. We'll visit the Churchill statue, the little-known church where he married Clementine, and walk through the heart of British power – Whitehall. After paying respects at the Cenotaph and seeing the cavalry guard, the tour concludes at the Churchill War Rooms. Entry is included, and you’ll explore at your own pace with an audio guide. Please note: the walking tour lasts 1.5 hours, then you will have time to explore the museum on your own, with a suggested duration of 1.5 hours. Your guide will not accompany you inside the museum.

Personalized tour of WWII London and Churchill

Lee was delightful. Knowledgeable and affable, Lee shared so many interesting details about Londoners’ history and experiences during WWII. Lee also shared wonderful stories about Churchill. He tailored the tour perfectly to the needs and interests of our group of 3 (two adults and one HS aged teenager). We loved it!

Fun and educational for the whole family!

This tour was packed with Churchill/WWII history and our family of four loved it! I was a little nervous to see if my 11 and 8 year olds would like it, but it was a hit for the whole family! Our guide, Pepe, was amazing. He was so knowledgeable, personable, and gladly answered all of my 8 year old’s questions! :) This tour was just our family and the tour guide which was a nice, intimate experience. The war rooms were cool but we actually enjoyed the walking tour leading up to the war rooms even more.

Operator response

Thank you for taking the time to leave such a lovely review for Pepe and the tour! It’s always great to hear the whole family had a wonderful time discovering Churchill’s history and we hope you’ll join us to explore more soon.

Tour guide Alex was full of interesting (& fun) facts about Churchill’s everyday life while we toured his fav shops.

We all know Churchhill as a wartime hero, but to visit fav cigar, hat & shoemaker’s shops is to learn about his more private side & about a bit of London history too. Alex was excellent at drawing us into his daily life & habits, paralleled with the history of the neighborhood not to mention wartime London. Highly recommend this tour as an appetizer to the more serious War Rooms.

Operator response

We really appreciate the recommendation and we’re glad you had a fabulous experience delving into Churchill’s life with Alex!
