Small-Group Tour in Pompeii with a Real Archeologist, ticket included

Description
This Guide Service for Pompeii Ruins is a great choice to share with other people with a great service and a god price. It is a semi private experience because the group is really little. This tour will give you the possibility to discovery the Secrets of the old Pompeii. Visiting the Ancient city of Pompeii is a unique experience, because the most important and interesting element for the tourists are not the monument or art pieces (than also in Pompeii they do not lack), but the possibility to see the daily life of its ancient inhabitants. Visiting Pompeii is like being in a luna park, with the clamorous difference that there’s nothing virtual here, null of reconstructed, null false, it is all real.

Itinerary
A typical elegant house of the imperial age is represented by the House of the Poeta tragico, inside which there is the famous floor mosaic “Cave Canem”
In vicolo dei Vetti stands one of the most beautiful and luxurious houses of Pompeii: the House of the Vettii which takes its name from its owners, Aulo Vettio Restituto and Aulo Vettio Conviva.
Probably one of the most visited places by tourists is this 2 storey building for its prostitutes and their business. There were other brothels in town but these were usually located above a tavern or in private abodes not too luxurious either. The place was made up of 5 rooms on the ground floor and 5 on the upper one. Every room had a concrete bed with maybe, if you were lucky, a mattress or a mat.
The Forum in Pompei was reserved to pedestrians and carts were not allowed. Only public buildings overlooked this area which was about 142 metres long and 38 metres wide. The Forum today is bare of statues and its ornate flooring and marble work. It is believed that after the eruption, the area got dug up and these were then re-used in other works.
The thermal baths, or spas, whatever you want to call them, were situated outside the city walls. Its nearby port (in fact several large rocks where boats could be moored) these baths were probably used by travelers, and not by the folk of Pompeii.
Lovely, the House of Fauna lends its name to a bronze statue of a faun located in the impluvium. Its one of the most famous in the whole of Pompei.
The prestigious house (2,000 sq. metres) gets its name from an affresco of the poet Menandro. In this abode we found 118 objects in silver, obviously tableware of great interest are the affrescoes depicting the Trojan war: the death of Laocoonte: Cassandra and Ulysses
The Romans loved their games or fights as you wish, gladiators against gladiators and such like Pompei had an arena for these barbaric sports too. The amphitheatre could house up to 20,000 people on 3 different levels. what we have found out at Pompei during the hot summer months, the spectators were protected by a type of dark linen covering. Adjacent to the arena you could see the great gymnasium where youngsters would work out.
The worshipping of the God Apollo arrived a bit before the eruption of 79 A.C. This cult had lost many of its tempio di apollofollowers due to Jupiter being a stronger God. There’s a bronze statue of the God represented with his bow and arrow plus a statue of the Goddess Diana.

Amazing perspective on a unique time in history. Our fantastic guide really helped bring to life Roman life during the period surrounding a great tragedy. The focus is very much on the city and people themselves, as opposed to the volcano. Bring lots of water if you go during the summer—hot but worth it!
The tour is "ok", but just be aware that the TripAdvisor ad was misleading. For example, it says in the title "Tour in Pompeii with a Real Archeologist". This is not true. The "guide" was a young woman who basically shows you around the sites, but she was definitely not an Archeologist. Also the ad gave you the impression (I think it even said in writing) that they tour you through specific sites, one of them being House of Vetti. In reality, the guide just pointed towards the House of Vetti. On the positive side, there is value here (hence the 3 stars and not 1) because the ticket price is included and the 'guide' does show you around this enormous park. In my opinion, you are better off with someone like this versus just buying a ticket and guessing where to go (not recommended). And for those that want a real Archeologist, hire one. You will pay a more for that specific service.
I enjoyed the tour and Paulo was fantastic. He was very informative and knowledgable; however, we probably only saw half of the sites the tour advertised as the itinerary for the tour. Not sure why we didn’t see all of what was advertised?
Your tickets included is for the day, after the tour you can explore by yourself as long as you like.
Pompeii is amazing. The preservation is incredible. Make sure to where good walking shoes and plan to extend your stay to see more key sites. I was assured that our tour included the House of Vettii but the guide said the wait was 20 mins. We went back and walked right in. So slightly disappointed that I was told one thing but not provided what was promised.
Absolutely incredible tour. We were given the wrong meet-up location, but contacted the group when no one showed and they not only got us there but the tour guide waited for us to start! Teresa with Askos Tours (listed as Pompei Trip & Transfer in the app) was amazing, so knowledgeable, entertaining, and went the extra mile to ensure we got to see as much as possible and stayed late to answer our questions after the group tour was done. Having a real archeologist lead was fantastic, because she taught along the way and helped us learn how to date the things we were seeing, fit things into the context historically and culturally, and presented popular and alternate opinions on how to interpret the digs. Absolutely amazing, highly recommended!
Our tour guide was incredible. We walked through the ruins and she explained the history and answered all of our questions. - Connecticut, USA
Super guide, very good German spoken, starting at 9:00 is the best time, still relatively little going on
Best part of the tour was going through the main road and finding shades spots. Alfredo was very knowledgeable about the city.
Paolo provided an excellent level of detail about the history and significant of Pompeii. The pace was good and he kept the group evolved. I highly recommend this tour!
both the guide of Naples and Pompeii were very compelling. the girls who accompanied us made us live in a compelling way, step by step the situations that the population was experiencing, with engaging anecdotes. definitely to contact, if we were to return to visit something else
