Itinerary
Your day begins with a visit to one of the most mysterious sites on Earth, that prehistoric and world-famous stone monument known as Stonehenge. The landscape is peppered with burial chambers and stone circles, each one thousands of years old and shrouded in mysteries, but Stonehenge rises above them all. Located on Salisbury Plain and keeping its 5,000 years of history quite secret, Stonehenge has been described as everything from an astronomical clock to a place of worship or burial. Your guide will explain what is known today and reveal the theories that have been debated for centuries. Ponder these theories as you walk around the stones and admire the scenic views.
Your tour continues to the small town of Glastonbury, supposed home of the mysterious isle of Avalon, the place where King Arthur’s sword was forged, according to legend. It was here, after the Battle of Camlann, that a mortally wounded King Arthur died. Stop for a photo of the famous Glastonbury Tor and view the ruins of St Michael's church. Continue into town to visit Glastonbury Abbey, the site of Arthur’s and Queen Guinevere's graves, before enjoying some free time in the town of Glastonbury for lunch in a quaint cafe, browse a quirky local shop, or make the walk up Glastonbury Tor.
We end the day at the massive stone circles at Avebury, with its village of thatched cottages ringed by huge standing stones hauled into place by Neolithic worshippers thousands of years ago. After a guided walk and free time, you'll begin your journey back to London.

I was so excited to take my husband on this tour, which I first did in 2003. I loved the small group setting and how flexible Toby was with us. I booked this tour because of the opportunity to see two stone circles and walk up to the Tor.
We had the most incredible experience with Viator traveling to these amazing sites. Our tour guide, Nick, was the most knowledgeable, friendly, and caring guide that I have ever had. His vast, historical guidance and attention to every need was unparalleled. Our driver, Magde, delivered us to each location efficiently and safely. It was a truly inspiring and unforgettable experience thanks to these gentlemen. It will stay with us for a lifetime.
Great tour so many first time experiences!!!
Was a fantastic trip, if you are a fan of history, archeology, myth and legend. We took the took because we wanted to see Stonehenge, but are also huge Arthurian Legend fans— this was a great, thoughtful informative tour— with Toby really looking out for the group— care for mild modifications made to make the crew happy, lots of information and local color throughout the trip. Time was as expected, the drive was quick and a great coach, and while I wish we has more tome in Glastonbury, we saw 3 major locations in 1 day— not their fault. Thoughtful for families— a small group. Very much recommended!!
Avery is not worth it. And we spend too little time in Glastonbury. We didn’t even get to walk around the abbey or explore the little shops with being rushed to leave. We also didn’t even go up the Tor, which was the part we were most excited for. The tour guide was rude and yelled at me in Stonehenge.
It was a classic rainy day...so even though there was that inconvenience, Nick made the experience worthwhile, informative, and meaningful. This trip covers a lot of territory and so we were prepared to be "on a schedule." And it was worth seeing it all. Glastonbury and the Chalice Well were very special places, that I didn't expect. Considering all the admission fees were taken care of, as well as the transportation (very comfortable), I thought the tour fees were very reasonable. It was great to see classic historic sites on this classic rainy day--it all fit together very well. Be forewarned that it is a long day (worth it)...and with possible traffic coming back to London, but we were back by 7p which is still within the window that was specified.
We loved the experience, we were able to see many incredible places, I just wish we had more time in each place. The guide was very friendly and explained a lot about the history of the places.
Tour was reasonably driver excellent tour guide sociable pleasant however I was disappointed not enough given for chalice gardens and really wanted to go up the tor sadly not enough time in future I will look at venues and target what u really want to see overall pleasant experience but not enough given to really enjoyed rushed to much stonehenge lovely. Thank you
Wish we had more time in chalice Wells garden n to climb the tor for the price we paid we thought this was included so not really happy with this
It was a great tour. There is a lot of travel time between sites but our guide kept us busy with history and anecdotes. To y was a terrific guide. Answered all of our questions and if he didn’t know the answer, he looked until he could find the answer even if meant calling a friend who might know!
