Visit to the Viscri fortified church - one of the best preserved fortified church in Transylvania - is also included in the tour. Prince Charles, who owns a house in Viscri, says "Transylvania is in my blood".
Discover the only city in Romania which looks exactly the same way as in the XVIth century - Sighisoara. Take a trip in time in this one day tour or simply get all the inside information in a walking tour if you are traveling on your own. While in Sighisoara you have several options to eat lunch or snacks. We provide you enough time during the tour to dine in a restaurant or have snacks at different stalls and enjoy a stroll on your own and look for souvenirs. One of their favorite snack is the Langos, a deep fried bred dough topped with cheese and sour cream as savory or powdered sugar/jam as sweet snack. We always recommend Alte Post Restaurant where delicious traditional food is served. For souvenirs guests usually go for traditional, handmade gifts, easy to transport. Many of these are wooden spoons, small jewelry or even T-shirts. Please note the locations we are visiting are uneven paved with stones and for your safety we recommend you to wear sturdy shoes all seasons.
Visit a remarkable fortress - Rupea - with three rings, dating from the 14th century, built on a basalt rock. Inside the fortress there is a well 60 m deep. The water is still drinkable.

Dan, so far, has the most natural affinity to guiding tourists in this absolutely amazing itinerary. On top of that, is his equally natural affinity to his talent in singing. I say natural because you would easily notice that his love for singing isn't to impress you as the tourist but simply ecpress what he naturally feels in the moment. He is your deifinition of a gentleman, a classic crooner and very much dedicated to giving you an impressive presentation of the tour like bread and butter. At the end of the tour, he never mentioned once about making sure you write reviews. It is the most non-chalant moment, a gentleman who presents peak level confidence. Not to mention, pairing him with this gorgeous, incredibly stunning itinerary of Rupea, Viscri, Sighisoara, UNESCO sites of living museums that are very transporting and to our surprise, was also a medieval festival taking place. Even more so is a clear, blue sky with crisp air as if everything just fits perfectly in place. Obviously, I would highly recommend it. Although we cannot choose our guides and the guides so far are all competent and professional, Dan would be amazing to tour with. Please avail the postcards at the kings house in Viscri to send to loved ones. I really loved that part of the trip.

An absolutely wonderful day visiting Transylvania! Our guide, Charlie, was OUTSTANDING!! He is a terrific driver, an incredible tour guide, and just a really fantastic human!!! We couldn’t have asked for a better day in the Transylvania countryside. Charlie made us all feel really welcome and we walked away with a much better understanding of the history. It was a lot of up and down hill cobblestones and I was pretty proud to keep up and feel the good burn in my legs. We had a delicious lunch at 32 Viscri. I highly recommend booking with Active Travel while visiting Romania and Brasov in particular. There seemed to be many options for day trips and as a solo traveler I was careful about my choice. This is a locally owned and operated company and the owner quickly answered all my questions. The tour itself was fascinating and Charlie was an excellent and informative guide, and a very safe driver! It is a full day with 3 very different stops ( with time for a delicious lunch in Viscri) and well worth it.

A great day trip from Brasov. Pucked up on time and then 2 hours in car through beautiful scenery with rest breaks along the way. Mihai was an excellent guides. Full of knowledge and enthusiasm for the local history and the sites we visited. Viscri is well worth visiting and we had plenty of time to explore.

We had an amazing trip with Charlie, our tour guide. His explanations (all done with patience and good humour) of the sites we visited really brought the history to life. He did not rush us at all and always checked that we had had enough time to take everything in. Sighisoara is very picturesque and well worth a visit. The fortified church in Viscri with its little museum is really interesting. Finally, the fortress at Rupea is quite a climb up (this is optional) but worth it for the views alone. Would definitely recommend this one day tour to anyone visiting Brasov. Just as an aside, I had recently been involved in quite a bad driving accident at home in Scotland. Charlie's driving was very steady and good. This made the journey feel very safe for me, so thank you Charlie.
