A magical day at the Ouzoud Waterfalls thanks to an exption driver

We returned delighted from our excursion to the Ouzoud waterfalls, and if this day was the highlight of our trip, it is largely thanks to the professionalism and benevolence of our agency, but above all thanks to the rare gem that is Youssef, our driver. From the start, we felt totally safe. Youssef’s driving is absolutely impeccable and very careful, which is essential for us, especially on the roads of the Berber mountains. But Youssef is much more than a driver: he is a real host to little care. He was infinitely patient and tender with our children, ensuring their comfort and well-being at all times. His ability to anticipate our needs (and theirs!) allowed us to enjoy every moment with confidence. During the journey, we had the chance to talk with him during exciting discussions. Cultivated and resourceful, he shared a thousand valuable stories and tips about the region with a generosity that touched us greatly. If you are looking for an authentic, fluid and warm experience, do not hesitate for a second. A huge thank you to the agency and a special thank you to Youssef, who made this day unforgettable for the whole family. We recommend with your eyes closed!

Rainbows in the Mist – A Day at the Ouzoud Waterfalls"

The mist caught the sunlight in tiny rainbows as it drifted toward me, cool against my face, while a monkey on the rock above clutched a stolen biscuit like a tiny, smug king. Somewhere beyond the roar of water, I could hear laughter carried by the wind, and for a moment, I forgot the world was bigger than this gorge. Hicham had picked us up just after dawn, the streets of Marrakech still soft with early light. He drove with an easy calm, humming a tune I didn’t recognise, pausing only to greet shepherds as we passed. The road wound through olive groves and clay-coloured hills, the scent of damp earth rising after a night’s cool. Once, we slowed for a line of goats crossing the road, their bells chiming faintly in the still air. Our guide, Mustapha, met us at the top of the trail — a quiet man with eyes that seemed to know every turn of the mountain. The path was uneven, sometimes shaded by leaning trees, sometimes open to the relentless heat. The air was thick with the smell of wet stone and wild herbs crushed underfoot. And then, just as my legs began to ache, the forest seemed to exhale — monkeys appeared, bold and curious, chattering in the branches, watching us with an intelligence that made me smile. At the base, the Ouzoud Waterfalls revealed themselves in a rush of sound and spray. We boarded a small boat painted in fading blues, and as we drifted closer, the roar grew until it filled my chest. “Hold on!” the boatman shouted, grinning, just before the cold spray drenched us. I laughed without thinking — a sound that felt like it belonged to the water itself. Lunch was served at a low table beside the river: a fragrant lamb tajine, fresh tomato salad, bread still warm, and mint tea poured in a bright, foaming arc. Leaves rustled overhead, the waterfall’s voice softened by distance. Mustapha told us a story about his grandfather guiding travellers before there were proper trails, his words threading the past into the present. The return drive was quiet, the car heavy with the pleasant exhaustion of a day spent outside time. I half-dozed as the sun dipped, hills turning gold, then violet. This was more than a day trip — it felt like something ancient whispered to us through water and stone. If nature humbles you, the marrakech to ouzoud route is a must. This ouzoud waterfalls day trip from marrakech was the soul of Morocco in motion. ```0

Amazing!! To do absolutely super recommended, with our driver and our guide though!

Highly recommended day trip! Khalid our driver is wonderful overwhelming addictive and makes you feel at home an extremely pleasant journey!! Also our very nice polyglot guide and helpful! Finally, what about the most important thing the falls? Well simply a breathtaking show, not a very long way to get there and still it's really worth it!! We also ate well and spent little compared to quality and speed! Highly recommended!!!

Flee the guide urgently

The day starts with a driver who does not smile and does not talk to us. Arriving in Ouzoud we are greeted by a guide (optional when booking). Ahmid the guide informs us from the outset that he pays 3€ per person and that it is mandatory. It forces several groups to follow it. He's not talking loud, he's braille! Not listening to some members of the group. He's even disrespectful! We decided to leave the band he formed! He whistles to hold us back!!! I'm telling him we're leaving because he's behaving badly. I tell him that it is unpleasant dry and cold! I can't stand it! Coming from a woman he hardly accepts the remark! He even tries to stop us from taking the small boat to cross!!! The only positives were a good tagine overlooking the waterfall and our meeting with an adorable and smiling couple! In short run away from Ahmid!!!! Is not a guide who wants!

Very mixed

We book one of the most expensive excursions thinking we'll be in smaller committee and quiet. Actually, we're on the same level as everyone else. Departure at 8.15am normally and we left Marrakech only at 9am after changing minibuses. We meet in the front in a bus of 20 people, in the sun without air conditioning with the driver who does not say a word. After 2h45 drive including a 15min pee stop we arrive at the parking lot where a guide swoops in to show us around. (Not included!) We still manage to tell him that we want to be free and not to follow him after asking the driver about our return time. (This allowed us to go at our own pace and especially eat where we wanted). The visit went well afterwards. Return to the vehicle at 3:30 pm to arrive in Marrakech at 6:20 pm about tjr in front in full sun without air conditioning. We are very far from the 10-11h announced in the announcement, with not even 4h on site .. not too much time to stroll. In short it's worth the cost to see the waterfall but if you want to be quiet, alone, you must forget.
