The green tea fields to the sky! The impressive "green" views of beutifully planted fields of Kyoto original green "Uji" tea are often introduced on Instagram and photographic websites as "one of the world best views" or "views you must see before you die". This place is located country-side of Kyoto Pref. where only accessible by cars. We park the car so you can get into the middle of fields and take as much photos as you want in the dreamy atmosphere.

Seijuin-Temple is located in the south country-side of area of Kyoto. Although it needs an hour drive from Kyoto downtown, it's definitely worthwhile. It's the view of famous love-heart window in the tea room, which has been buzzed on Instagram many times. In this small mantra-Buddhist temple of 800 years, you can actually enter and walk inside the historical temple rooms known to be one of the most traditional Japanese styles. *700 yen as entry-fee and parking included in the tour!

A white Nissan van Serena (no.[51-15]) (or Mini cooper convertible for 1 pax) comes to the front of your hotel (or as close as possible) by the time, so please be outside by the time and look for your car. Daiki san picked us up punctually from our hotel. He was very friendly and knowledgeable, giving us insights and history of tea while driving us safely throughout the trip. I had the most amazing sencha & was absolutely mind blown! What top the icing of the cake was Daiki san took very nice pictures of us near the tea fields. Such a lovely keepsake! If you're thinking whether to do this tour or not, think no more! Just sign up & have a blast!
We had a great afternoon with Daiki exploring the areas of Kyoto around the tea plantations. So many lovely things to see. As tea-people, we absolutely loved this tour! We took a little too long at the first temple we visited, so we lost some tea shopping time! Be sure to follow Daiki’s timeline so you have a nice amount of time everywhere.
If you are looking for a way to explore beautiful tea plantations and learn about tea growing while being driven in your own private vehicle, then this tour is for you. Daiki, our guide, was prompt, friendly, and very knowledgeable! We enjoyed learning some Osaka history along with tea and the growing techniques. We had a change in pickup address and I messaged Daiki thru the WhatsApp and he immediately responded and said it was no problem and shared his location and arrival time. If you are looking to get away from the big city and see an area few were in, then this tour is for you! I highly recommend booking this tour!
Daiki provided our family with an engaging and enlightening tour of the tea growing region and several Kyoto temples. He was informative about local history, tea farming, and so much more. Our kids had a wonderful afternoon and loved seeing the countryside. It was a highlight of our vacation! I will absolutely contact him again when we return.

Daiki, our guide was brilliant, his English was fantastic. Lots of time to chat and ask questions about day to day living in Japan. Explainet lots about the temples we visited. Arrived on time right outside our hotel. My favourite part was the most peaceful and tranquil Shoju-in Temple. I did thin we might be getting more in to the tea fields to walk around and see how the tea is processed but this was not the case. Still beautiful to look at from the roadside. So lovely to have the transport all taken care of with the door to door round trip.
Daiki’s tour provided a wonderful way for us to experience the heart of green tea production in Wazuka and Uji. He was a laidback yet enthusiastic guide with knowledge not just of hidden places deeply significant to green tea production, but of the spiritual aspects underlying this essential part of Japanese culture. With every sip of green tea we take in the future, we will always remember this day.
Daiki took us on an unforgettable journey through the Wazuka Tea plantations just outside of Uji, Japan. Daiki was very knowledgable and passionate about his job. I appreciated all the additional insight he provided throughout the tour. He allowed us to go at our own pace and at no point did we feel rushed, adding to the serene experience. Daiki taught us a great deal about Buddhist culture and the political climate around Japan both throughout history and currently. It was an absolutely phenomenal trip. Definitely aim to go on a day with clear skies. We got perfect weather for our trip and that definitely enhanced the experience.
As a tea lover, this was the highlight of my trip to Japan! Our guide, Daiki, picked us up at our hotel and drove us around tea country in Uji and the nearby vicinity. We visited some amazing scenic spots, as well as local temples large and small. Also, the small tea cafe was great and had a large selection of locally farmed teas (and some teaware), which was a nice bonus. As the description clearly says, the tour fee pays for the driver and his experience, but not lunch or admissions. You will want to bring cash (many smaller places don’t take cards) for some admissions and purchases along the way.
The tour was worth the money. Since it is a private tour, there is much more time to experience the impressions. Daiki was a very good guide, shared a lot of information and it was also very funny. We chose the museum and haven learned a lot. Also, we now have a lot of tea and matcha in our luggage 😄 Thanks for the great tour, we can highly recommend.
