Itinerary

60 min

Discover the Belle Époque charm of San Sebastian as we explore its most iconic landmarks. Our journey begins at the City Hall (Ayuntamiento), a stunning building with a rich history. Strolling along the famous La Concha Beach, you'll hear how the city became a luxurious spa retreat for Spanish royalty. Next, we'll visit the impressive Cathedral of Buen Pastor, home to one of Europe’s largest organs. Our journey continues as we cross the Maria Cristina Bridge, an architectural gem inspired by the bridges of Paris, offering breathtaking views of the Urumea River. We'll then admire the exterior of the Maria Cristina Hotel, a glamorous symbol of the San Sebastian Film Festival, still bearing scars from the Spanish Civil War. Just across, we'll see the Victoria Eugenia Theatre, a historic venue that has witnessed the city's vibrant cultural life.

40 min

In this second part of the tour, we’ll delve into the narrow streets of the Old Town, where one of the city’s most intense battles took place. We will visit the Market of La Bretxa, a historic marketplace that has been a vital part of local life for centuries. As we explore, you'll discover century-old shops, some over 190 years old! We’ll step inside the Church of San Vicente, a Gothic gem that holds a relic older than the city itself, and visit the famous Plaza de la Constitucion, which conceals fascinating hidden secrets. Our journey ends at the iconic Church of Santa Maria del Coro, where we’ll admire its stunning Baroque façade from the outside.

20 min

To conclude, the guide will invite you to choose one pintxo and a drink, a perfect moment to enjoy our local white wine and immerse yourself in the city's rich gastronomic culture (only inlcuded in the small group option)

Great tour with knowledgable guide

Our group of six had an exceptional experience exploring San Sebastián with Iker. From the moment we met him, he made us feel genuinely welcome and immediately set a warm, engaging tone for the tour. His deep knowledge of the city, its history, and its culture was evident throughout, but what truly set him apart was the enthusiasm and passion with which he shared it. Iker’s love for San Sebastián is contagious. Every story, recommendation, and historical insight was delivered with both expertise and genuine excitement, bringing the city to life in a way that guidebooks simply cannot. Beyond being incredibly knowledgeable, he was also personable, witty, and attentive, ensuring that everyone in our group felt comfortable, included, and engaged from start to finish. If you are planning a visit to San Sebastián, we cannot recommend a tour with Iker highly enough. It was one of the highlights of our trip and gave us a far richer appreciation of this remarkable city.

It is so clear that Iker loves his city deeply. He shared his knowledge with so much excitement and true passion. On top of that, he was funny and made sure everyone in our group was comfortable and happy the entire time. If you are planning a trip to San Sebastián, we highly recommend booking a tour with Iker!

Did not meet expectations

I have done many tours over 30+ years of traveling. Unfortunately, this was one of the worst experiences I’ve had. There were several things that led me to this conclusion. The tour guide was difficult to understand. On multiple stops, he chose to try to talk to us where there were loud construction noises nearby. Difficult to hear. On several of our stops when we could’ve been in the shade, we stopped in direct sunlight, and it was a hot day. This was uncomfortable for several of the members of the group. When we would walk throughout the city, our guide would often walk very quickly, leaving the group behind. He made a little effort to talk with anyone during the walks. At one point, he crossed the street against a red traffic signal, causing cars to honk their horns at us. Maybe most importantly, his demeanor was rather unpleasant. I don’t think he smiled at all throughout the tour, and his stories were short, disjointed, and hard to follow. This could’ve been because of difficulty with language, i’m not sure. I had higher expectations for this tour. Walking tours like this are often wonderful, enlightening experiences. Unfortunately, this tour was not one of those, and I would not recommend it.

Fantastic!

Not only was Francisco an amazing tour guide, but he also gave great recommendations for pinxos and drinks in the area. We’ve been steadily working our way through his list since we finished our tour this morning. Definitely worth doing if you have an interest in the history and culture of the city and Basque region!
