If booking with transportation from Panama City: ✅ Please note: Your tour is not confirmed until you provide us with your WhatsApp number, hotel name, and room number. Without this information, we will be unable to arrange your pickup. ✅ On the day of your tour, be ready in your hotel lobby between 5:00 AM and 5:45 AM. Transportation is shared (up to 6 guests per vehicle), and routes are planned to collect everyone efficiently. To avoid delays, it’s very important that you are on time. If you are not present at your designated pickup point, the tour will depart without you and no refund will be issued. ✅ Our drivers will do their best to contact you via WhatsApp, but they can only wait a maximum of 10 minutes before moving on to ensure timely service for all guests. If driving yourself to San Blas: ✅ Please contact our office for detailed driving directions and instructions. Important: Only true 4x4 vehicles are permitted to enter Guna territory. Standard SUVs (e.g., Hyundai Tucson or similar) are not allowed, as they are too small and unsuitable for the challenging mountain roads. Many travelers have been turned away for arriving in non-4x4 vehicles, so please plan accordingly.

- Departure time is between 5:00am and 5:45am from your Panama City lodging. If staying at Playa Bonita area, your departure time is between 5:00am and 5:15am.
- You are welcome to bring a cooler with your own drinks, potable water, snacks and beverages (fruit juice or alcohol). The driver will stop at a supermarket on the way to San Blas in order for you to purchase additional items.
- PLEASE DO NOT FORGET TO BRING YOUR ORIGINAL PASSPORT. WITHOUT IT, YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO ENTER THE KUNA TERRITORY AND THE SAN BLAS ISLANDS.
- Please be advised that San Blas is in the Guna territory, which is an autonomous, Indian zone. The services are very basic. The Gunas will be providing all touristic services, such as meal preparations, car and boat transportations, lodging, and tour guiding. We are proud to be working with this friendly tribe and with each booking we give back to the community, supporting their customs and their traditional way of life. We kindly ask you to respect this beautiful culture and their simple way of life, leaving your expectations behind and learning about their innocent culture.
- We recommend that you bring your personal hygiene items, such as towels, sunscreen, hats, mosquito repellent.
- In San Blas Islands there are no ATMs, please bring cash. You can buy additional drinks, snacks, souvenirs etc.
- “Tigo” is the cell phone company that has the best reception in San Blas.
- Infants need to sit on laps

- PLEASE BE PREPARED FOR A 2.5 to 3 HOUR CAR JOURNEY EACH WAY OVER CURVY ROADS! THERE IS ALSO A 25-30 MINUTE BOAT RIDE TO YOUR FIRST ISLAND WHICH CAN GET QUITE BUMPY AND WET. We feel that the islands are worth the long drive, but some travelers have complained about the drive and the fast boat ride from and to the port. - SAN BLAS DISCLAIMER - PLEASE READ BEFORE BOOKING: ️ What to Expect on a San Blas Day Tour Transportation 2.5–3 hr ride from Panama City in shared 4x4s (6 passengers). Extra seat available at added cost. Pick-up 5:00–5:30 am — drivers can’t wait more than 10 min. Port check-in may feel informal, but the Kuna run it smoothly. 20–40 min boat ride (can be wet/bumpy). Boats may stop at other islands for guests. ️ Island Experience Rustic facilities: limited shade, basic bathrooms. Beaches often shallow — walk out further to swim. Islands can be busy in high season. Relaxed pace, no fixed schedules. ️ Food & Drinks Fresh meals (fish or chicken, rice, salad, patacones). One drink included (water, soda, or beer). - The use of drones is prohibited in San Blas. Heavy fines are imposed on those who disobey the law.
- AGAIN!!! Please be prepared for a 2.5 hour car journey each way (1 hour on a highway and about 1.5 hours through the mountains over curvy roads! Please do not leave bad reviews because of the road. We try to warn you ahead of time ;)
- Boat transfers from the port to the islands and back may include stops at other islands to pick up or drop off other guests.
- While the check-in process in the port may feel busy and a little unstructured, the local Guna community has a well-established system, and all guests are taken care of.
- The road to San Blas is very curvy. If you are sensitive to motion sickness, please prepare accordingly by bringing appropriate medication.

The excurions was good for folks who like to go to the beach and relax. The trip up the mountain was fantastic scenary.

Islands were beautiful, as was the ride through the mountains. But the islands were jam-packed with day trippers, and there wasn’t nearly enough seating or places with shade for the crush of people who were there. I’m too old to just flop down on the sand and sit in direct sun for 2 hours. Hopefully they will grow their tourism facilities to provide more seating, hammocks, tables and shade. Separately not everyone had access to snorkel equipment so I missed out on the shipwreck and starfish nursery.

San Blas is still a very remote and untouched paradise and remains so, thanks to the Guna culture that adheres to its independence and traditions. We understand that more amenities make the trip more comfortable for some visitors, while other appreciate the raw experience, being on a native island. We do offer beach trips to Taboga Island and Las Perlas, which do offer beach chairs, umbrellas, nice restaurants and water sports rentals to name a few. The excursion is just one, although different options appear on Tripadvisor, there are 3 paradise islands. You must bring your own snorkel if you want to practice, few are provided by the excursion managed by the native community

I read the reviews about how tiring the way back and forth is, but the sea is so wonderful it was worth it. The agency's 4x4 was comfortable, driver Julian was very punctual and careful at the wheel. The boat is kind of precarious, but it's got a life jacket for everyone. The first stop is on a small island where we spent about 3 hours, including lunch, simple but satisfying. Then there were two stops at natural swimming pools in the high seas, and one more on one last island. We had a beautiful sunny day, which made all the difference for our experience to be great.

Hi Gabor, thank you so much for your valuable feedback. For your information the tour cost is $89 or $146 with roundtrip transport from Panama. While we arrange all logistics for our guests, all services are handled by the indigenous Kuna. Them charging $0.25 for the use of their toilets is a nominal fee that they use locally to keep them maintained and clean. We do provide one drink for each guest, which is served during lunch. We hope you will return to Panama again soon and book another tour with us :)
Everything was super well managed, friendly staff and we were taken to all the islands. The only thing was that the snorkeling equipment was not offered, it was not necessary but it is announced as part of the package.
The road to get there is definitely rough! Be prepared and definitely take your Dramamine if needed! The description states that snorkeling is included but the only people who had snorkel gear were the tour guides. That was quite disappointing! The islands were beautiful!! The water was crystal clear. The people were nice. We enjoyed watching a pretty intense volleyball game at one of the islands. Grab a hammock if you can and relax!
Dear Laura, we are happy to hear that you enjoyed your trip to San Blas with us. For your information we DO include snorkel gear, which is offered to all guests. The captain mentions at the beginning of the tour that snorkel gear is available for everyone. Those who wish to snorkel only have to ask the guides for the equipment and they will be provided with snorkel and mask. If there was a confusion, we do apologize and we hope you will visit us again soon.
Overall this was a great experience! The trip from the hotel to the pier was long and bumpy, which they let you know prior to picking you up from the hotel. On the way up we stopped at a market and a landing with a view to take pictures. Once we got to the pier we’re introduced to our tour guide and you get a chance to use the bathroom (under a $1 like in Paris). From there we island hop! The guide tells you how long we stay at each island/the pool, and they also take pictures along the way. They do serve lunch (not especially seasoned) and provide snorkel equipment. The ride back seems faster than the way there, but expect to find yourself in traffic. This was a great experience and I’m glad the people of the San Blas islands shared this with us.

I have given this tour 4 stars, because I felt like it was well organized, accurate and a lot of fun. The guides and drivers were great and being amongst the islands feels like you are in a completely different world... BUT, I think there are much deeper issues with what is going on with San Blas and these tours. The litter and general condition of these paradise islands is, at times, horrendous. Strolling up to a picture perfect tropical island and seeing bottles, crisp packets and face masks everywhere made me very uncomfortable, and I felt like I was part of the problem frankly. I don't think we have figured out how to experience these islands in any kind of responsible way, and it felt exploitative to the Guna people. Of course, they must benefit from the tourism, but something seems very wrong with this.

Unfortunately, the plastic bottles and other plastic waste that can be found on the beaches of San Blas is related ocean currents washing up waste to the shores of San Blas. The Kunas clean their island daily and tourism inspires them and helps them to keep their islands clean and recycle plastic waste. Unfortunately waste is a worldwide problem and we are grateful you are aware of it when encountering plastic products on a daily basis. Unfortunately, in countries such as Panama, Colombia and Venezuela (where most of the trash stems from) people are not as educated and aware of this issue and discard their waste into the streets (which ends up in the ocean and on the shores of tropical beaches). We work closely with the Kunas and we guarantee you that they are not being exploited or taken advantage of in any way. On the contrary, we are supporting their communities (with donations, fees collected at the border crossing, taxes paid to islands and with employing their services) and we continually educate them on the trash issue at hand, which they try to alleviate with recycle bins on their islands and with daily trash cleanups.
