Our guide, Nina, was fantastic! She educated us on the artists and their art. There were many murals that had a back story that you would not know had you gone without a guide. We highly recommend this tour and make sure you request Nina as your guide.
Great guide and history tour of rio Street art and its culture a tour that kept one's interest throughout in an amazing city with amazing art.
Our tour guide was a passionate art lover who taught us about the art we saw and the artists themselves. She made the art installations come to life!!
The tour with Nina was wonderful. She is very knowledgeable about the street art scene in Rio, and provided clear and insightful explanations in perfect English. This tour also allowed me to see the beautiful and artsy neighborhood of Santa Teresa. Take this tour if you want to know more about the local culture and do something unique and authentic, beyond the mass and overcrowded tourist attractions of the city.
Start your stay in Rio with this tour and you will be up to speed on recent history, social movements, Rio fun facts, the street art scene (of course!), and a host of other insider information that you will not get on any other tour. Nina is a gold-standard local tour guide who knows the artists and the street art scene personally, has attended many a street painting party, and who applies her life experience in Rio and her arts education to create an experience that would impress any museum docent. She is the real deal. And you can ask her anything - she is very open minded, intelligent, and willing to dialogue. Nina is also fluent in English, very expressive and well-spoken, and an absolutely delightful person to learn from.
We are lucky enough to have been on many Viator Tours in several different countries. However, this was a truly memorable tour led by a passionate and hugely knowledgeable guide with a lovely personality. She clearly loves her work and is more than happy to share her considerable expertise in a down-to-earth and unpretentious fashion. Nina was bang on time for the tour while we went to the incorrect Metro Station nearby! Needless to say, she found us quickly. The afternoon passed far too soon, yet we saw more Street Art than we could possibly have hoped for during that time. And my wife was actually recognising several of the artists by the end. Nina had one surprise attraction for us but that will remain a tour secret! I would simply encourage other travellers to take this tour and find out for themselves. Highly recommended.
This was a great way to learn about Santa Teresa and Rio. In a fun and friendly way, Nina taught us not just about the street art, but also the local culture. There is no way we would have appreciated that area as much on our own.
Nina's street art tour in Rio was simply unforgettable! Her passion and deep insider knowledge brought the vibrant murals and graffiti to life. The highlight? Meeting artists at a gallery opening, thanks to her connections. From start to finish, it was perfectly curated and inspiring. Highly recommended for art lovers!
The best street art tour I've ever taken. Maybe the best tour period. Nina rules! While you're introduced some of Rio's best street art (the city has so much good stuff!), you learn about the artists and the scene (she knows them all). As others have written, Nina connects the art to social and political struggles. You'll also learn about the city and its neighborhoods while you walk through them. She is 100% fluent in English and delivers her tour in a pleasant conversational mode. It's not scripted.
Nina was amazing!!! I learned so much on this tour about Brazil’s political and social history and had a blast hearing Nina’s insights on the role of art in each of these movements. Would recommend to anyone visiting Rio and hoping for a local’s perspective!
