Everything is a bit too touristy. First, they take you to Rocinha to a bar located in a scenic area. Then to a small favela, Vila Canoas, with a tour inside. Minimal explanation of the favela. The only multilingual guide who was not able to provide particularly useful information. Average rating. I have no comparisons with other tours, but this one seems lacking in content to me.
Tour booked in French but given a good portion in English. Despite everything, a very comprehensive and interesting tour. Two favelas visited. One for the atmosphere, the motorcycle taxis, children dancing capoeira, the other, calmer with a visit to a school and a brigadeiro tasting. Thanks to Matheo.
It was not what I expected, I recommend it is better to arrive on your own to the favela and hire a local guide. First, they did not pick me up at my hotel and second, I decided to stay halfway through the tour since they only took me to a balcony and that was all. I hired a local guide who took me into the favela, I walked inside the favela, it was a unique experience.
Realmente no sabemos qué intentaba hacer allí...
Excellent guide and driver. Knowledgeable and friendly
Good tour from the top of Rocinha to the bottom. Simon explained the history and daily life of the favela well to us.
This was a super tour. Both our driver and our tour leader were informed and imparted to us both the history of the favela, and what the life there is like. Many things I thought it was (a "shanty town") were wrong. The houses are of relatively sturdy construction and they have utilities. We saw what daily life there was like-- with both the good and the bad. We saw much beautiful street art in the favela. This left us with a more full understanding of Rio, besides what our other tours have shown. HIGHLY recommend this to anyone visiting Rio.
We had a great time exploring Rochina with Mateo. We were picked up by Mateo and taken to the favela by Uber to meet the rest of the group. We spent plenty of time walking round exploring with Mateo who was very good at explaining anything you wanted to know about Rochina. He is a local & it was great to hear from his experience. The only thing I would say, this tour advertises taking you to two favelas but we only explored Rochina - it wasn’t an issue for us as we had a great time anyway, just be aware. Also, there is a lot of walking up & down stairs that are quite steep.
Wow what an experience a gentle introduction to life in the Favelas. Brilliant and knowledgeable guide made us feel safe during the excursion. Would highly recommend this tour.
Knowledgeable and friendly, He even gave some guidelines when traveling in Brazil, and told us how to go to next sightseeing spots
Marcelo & Mateus were our guides. They were very knowledgeable and very thorough about the history behind the favelas! This tour is eye opening and gave us a different perspective on what the culture at the Favelas is really like.
