Nelson, originally known as Eldorado, was first named by Spaniards in 1775 after they discovered gold in Eldorado Canyon. A century later, the area became notorious for the Techatticup Mine, where violent disputes over ownership and labor resulted in routine killings. Despite its dark history, the mine produced millions of dollars in gold, silver, copper, and lead before flash flooding made the area uninhabitable. Today, visitors can explore the remnants of this once-thriving boomtown, including weathered buildings, machinery, and the old Texaco station.

The trip was great! We covered the most scenic points close to Las Vegas in a car. Our guide Anthony was excellent in communicating and helping us with information. We got sufficient time to see each spot and covered scenic routes and great sightings. Overall, it's highly recommended if you plan to have a half day outing close to Vegas.
