Overall, we enjoyed the tour and the staff were friendly and welcoming. The drift snorkeling itself was beautiful and definitely the highlight of the experience. However, we booked a 3-hour drift snorkeling tour, so we expected to do the drift at least twice—possibly even three times if conditions allowed. Instead, we only did one drift, which was disappointing as it was the main reason we booked this excursion. After that, we spent the rest of the snorkeling time around the anchored boat. While it was still pleasant, there was much less marine life and it wasn’t nearly as exciting as the drift snorkeling itself. We also stopped at a pearl farm. This wasn’t clearly explained beforehand, and although we didn’t mind the visit itself, it quickly became obvious that the purpose was to sell pearls rather than to provide an educational experience. It’s a shame that almost one hour of a tour advertised as “drift snorkeling” was spent at a pearl shop instead of in the water. Overall, it was a good tour with friendly people, but if you’re booking it specifically for the drift snorkeling, be aware that you may only do it once, which didn’t match our expectations for a 3-hour excursion.
Great experience, knowledgeable tour guides, amazing coral garden with a wide range of sea flora and fauna
This snorkeling excursion was amazing! I really enjoyed the incredible blue waters, the fact that the water wasn’t deep and the fantastic crew.
Wonderful snorkeling. Coral was amazing. This is a drift snorkeling. Drifting is pretty fast. But it is doable.
Fun times and beautiful drift through the reef. Views were amazing of Taha’a and Bora-Bora. Water was sooooo clear and beautiful sands with lots of underwater flora and fauna. The pearl farm was very interesting and we learned a lot about the process. No pressure to buy but we did anyway. Guides were nice but could have shared a lot more about the area and surrounds and could have been a bit more engaging. Overall, good time and probably a bit on the shorter side for our family but pretty much as advertised.
Best day Ever! We had an awesome time Thoroughly recommend this excursion to anyone looking for a great tour in Raiatea
Very beau snorkeling Recommended
Excellent guide well prepared with rain jackets for us all. Stopped at a pearl farm which was educational. Did a drift snorkel which was wonderful. Strong current but with a guide in front and in the back everyone did great. They showed us various types of coral and fish. Small group of 5 made for a great experience.
We did the half day tour and had a great time despite the rain. A quick stop at a pearl farm was unexpected but informative and thankfully not high pressure. We then went to the drift snorkel, about a 150 yard drift, very fast at first, almost uncontrollably, but then slowed as we exited the narrow passage and we could see and swim around much more leisurely. Our guide took us for two passes, and we spent a long hour there. The ride consisted of a nice boat that we eventually circled the island in, after the snorkel, we were offered a fruit cup and a drink prior to heading home. The skies looked ominous when we left and the mate passed out ponchos which was very nice to wear in the biting rain. Overall, it was a very nice day.
Drift snorkeling is really fun and you don’t have to do much work. The current is strong and pushes you but it makes it difficult to take good pictures. The pearl farm was informative and not pushy into buying. I did buy earrings 😀
