Quito City Tour - Middle of the World and Teleférico (Cable Car)

Description
We will go to the Old Town which was declared a World Heritage Site in 1978 by UNESCO because Quito has the biggest Old Town in the World and keep artistic treasures and architectonic jewels. If you visit the Middle of the World you will be at the imaginary line that divides the continent into the North and South Hemispheres. The Inti Ñan museum is a place where we can do experiments to test that we are on the Equatorial Line. On the Cable or "Teleférico" we have the main scenic overlook viewpoint of Quito.

This tour gave us the best of Quito in 6-7 hours, a crash course! Our tour guide, Roberto Cabrera picked us up in a spotless roomy car right on time. He fluently spoke throughout giving us orientation to the city. The history from ancient times, the modern history, the cultural aspects, how the people live today. He knew immense detail about the art and architecture of the buildings and churches. He was an expert driver in the dense traffic as we criss-crossed the city. Even better he flexed our tour based on the weather and what we could and would not likely be able to see (fog so we nixed the telefarico, but got plenty more instead). He professionally managed all venues with entrance fees and fresh water available, he was a gem.
Thanks so much for your visit my country. You are allways welcome!
My fiancée and I had an outstanding private tour of Quito with Juan from Great Horned Owl Adventures & Tours. From the beginning, Juan was professional, knowledgeable, and incredibly welcoming. His English was excellent, making it easy for us to learn about Ecuador’s history, culture, architecture, and daily life. What truly set this experience apart was how much Juan went above and beyond throughout the day. He tailored the tour to our interests, answered countless questions, and made sure we were comfortable and enjoying every moment. Rather than simply showing us the major landmarks, he helped us understand the stories, traditions, and people that make Quito so special. Juan’s passion for Ecuador is contagious, and his genuine hospitality turned what could have been a standard city tour into one of the highlights of our trip. We left with a much deeper appreciation for Quito and Ecuador as a whole. If you’re looking for an English-speaking guide in Quito, look no further. We highly recommend Juan and Great Horned Owl Adventures & Tours. Thank you, Juan, for an unforgettable day! — James & Tammy, San Francisco, California
Juan is one of our best tour guides. Thanks for your visit to Ecuador !
This was a fantastic tour of Quito. We had a wonderful time We did the Old Town of Quito and the Middle of the World. The Middle of the World at the Equator was a great experience to stand in the Northern and Southern Hemispheres at the same time! We stopped for lunch a restaurant with the best empanadas I have ever had. Old Town was very interesting as it is a UNESCO World Heritage site. The Chocolate tasting was an education in chocolate!! The view from the Pannecillo was spectacular. The Great Horned Owl team was great, the car was comfortable, the driver was great and the tour guide knowledgeable. This was a great way to see Quito in one day.

Guide Karina and driver were very professional and pleasant ,maximising what we saw in one day in Quito . Made sense to go to Middle of the World museum first ,before it became crowded . This was an interesting museum where we learnt about the indigenous cultures of Equador as well as equator . Old Quito is lively and beautiful and we saw all the highlight churches and squares . All dealings with the company were friendly and professional . Highly recommended.

The day was great. I had a half day between flights so Roberto picked me up at the airport and drove to the Middle of the world, an amazing view point and then walked around the old city. Afterwards he drove me back to the airport. Roberto had amazing knowledge of the city as well as the history of Quito. I would definitely recommend this tour. Gracias.

Thanks so much for your visit to Ecuador. We had a great day !
Roberto is a fabulous guide and a genuinely nice person. Traveling solo as an older woman, I felt very safe with him, and there was flexibility in which sites to see. For example, I opted for a fabulous view of the city from near the Virgin of the Panecillo as the cable car was shrouded in clouds impacting visibly. The views were absolutely spectacular, and he is a knowledge guide who was able to impart quite a bit of history. He was extremely responsive and the conversation was wonderful. I enjoyed the tour so much that I have booked another tour with him, this time to see the cloud forest.

Amazing Tour of Quito!! Our tour guide, Juan Cevallos, met us at 8am at the JW Marriott and he was awesome from the moment he greeted us until he dropped us back off at the hotel at the end of the tour. He is so knowledgeable on the city of Ecuador. He took us to the Panecillo, Mitad del Mundo, El Centro Historico, took us to a bunch of churches and even a chocolate store to hear how it's made! Juan is so friendly and we really enjoyed his guidance. He even took us to eat fritada at a local spot. It was delicious! I would highly recommend!
