We had booked a private cruise with our own ‘punter’ and guide, Oscar. The tour lasted 45 minutes and along the way, Oscar told us about the different colleges we passed. We had plenty of opportunities to ask questions along the way and got a lot of good answers and new knowledge with us. Thank you Oscar!
What an amazing experience! We had a guide (I wanna say his name was Hamish but I could be wrong) he was very funny, knowledgable but it wasn’t too much. It was a lovely day, bright and hot. We got drinks from a nearby pimms boat and had a lovely trip down the river. Took about an hour but went by very quick. The company kept my cousins pram safe inside their reception area and the baby had a lovely trip as well. Definitely would love to do this again.
Had a lovely relaxing trip along the Cam. Tommy was a great guide with lots of interesting stories and information. Would recommend this trip
We went straight past all the sales peeps and straight to the front desk. It cost us £78 for 2 people on a shared punting tour. Our tour guide zi was brilliant and so knowledgeable. But I feel what we paid is an insane price and has put us off doing it again.
A lovely 45 minute glide up and down the Cam with a very knowledgeable young chap who gave us all the history of the various colleges we passed and some amusing stories to go with it. He was a very good pilot of the punt, and needed to be due to the amount of punts on the river at the time. The Pimms punt was a welcome addition, as you can pull up alongside and order a drink to take with you.
Punting is a must for visitors to Cambridge. It’s beautiful and a whole load of fun. The self-hire booking process with Scudamore’s was easy. My major gripe was the utter lack of effort by any of the staff to add to the experience in any way. Things like ‘welcome to scudamores’ or ‘good luck and don’t fall in’ or ‘welcome back - did you have a good time?’ or ‘thank you - see you soon’. Or, a smile. Something, ANYTHING at all to make you feel something other than a tourist to be farmed would have been nice. I’d recommend using a different operator.
We booked this last minute and our guide was Jason and he was great, very factual and telling us about the history. It was a nice way to spend an hour on the rive in the evening. would defo do again
Charlie our punter had excellent knowledge of the history, Guided us well down the Cam, High 5 for Charlie
Really wonderful experience. Our guide Freddie gave very interesting historical facts and knowledge about all the surrounding buildings and Cambridge in general.Booking was uncomplicated, tour started on time and everything went smoothly.
Wonderful evening punting tour (with Emile, hope I got the name right?) to celebrate our daughter's graduation. Just the right mix of facts and anecdotes, and gorgeous views of the famous college backs as well as some great wildlife sightings, including a kingfisher, swifts and cygnets. Going after 8pm meant the river was peaceful, uncrowded and everything was bathed in the most beautiful evening sunshine. Thank you for rounding off an amazing farewell to Cambridge. We have been with other punting operators before, and I would highly recommend Scudamores. Not necessarily the cheapest but a really professional outfit.
