Varese is a city in northern Italy known for its art-nouveau villas. Campo dei Fiori Regional Park is home to the 17th-century Sacro Monte di Varese complex.
Designed by architect Giuseppe Bianchi and completed in 1760, the Palazzo Estense is a Baroque palace built for the Francesco III d'Este.
Villa Toeplitz was built towards the end of the 19th century on a hill in the Varese district of Sant’Ambrogio.
The Sacro Monte di Varese is one of the nine sacri monti in the Italian region of Lombardy which were inscribed on the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites in 2003.
The Angera Fortress stands majestically on a spur of rock that dominates the southern shore of Lake Maggiore, on the Lombardy side.

Wonderful 5 hour round trip from Milan to Varese. One palace, villa and one village to be seen. The palace grounds were beautiful, the villa had the most impressive water feature and the Sacro Monte di Varese was a one hike up the mountain. The city is west of Como and filled with homes and villas that are beautiful. Our driver did an excellent job and his English was very good.
