Sofyan was our driver on this wonderful day trip from Marrakech. We felt safe in the car the whole way, he was engaging and provided good insight along the stops. Our home with the other guide, Abdul, was also fantastic! What a cool way to see a beautiful town and then have an authentic lunch in a locals home. We enjoyed it from start to finish- I highly recommend. Only advice: make sure your tennis shoes have Good tread. Some of the hiking is on gravel and it’s easy to slip. No big deal, just a heads up.
Excellent day trip to Imlil region. Pick up was at 8:30 and transfer to Imlil valley with short stop atan Argan oil shop. Takes about 2 hours to reach the valley after which a local guide takes you on a 90 minute tour around the local villages. Some beautiful views, just be aware if you do it in winter come with appropriate clothes and shoes as it’s pretty cold (there was snow on the ground during our visit). After the hike we stopped at a local family Berber home to have a lunch, this was the highlight as the view is spectacular. Lunch was the classic salad and a chicken tagine. It was delicious. After that back to the car and drive back. We got back around 4 pm so a nice easy trip in terms of the schedule. The guide/driver was a really nice guy named Abdul. Very interested in everything, easy to get along with and full of knowledge about the area, Moroccan customs etc. All in all a very nice option if you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of Marrakech and enjoy some nature.
Abdul, my driver and guide, was fantastic! Very safe, very good English, friendly and knowledgeable. And very accommodating to my wishes. In the Atlas Mountains, he turned me over to a young local man who led an amazing hike up through hills and ravines and small villages to two beautiful waterfalls. Then we continued to a local Berber home where we had a wonderful lunch of chicken tajine with salads, bread, and dessert. Then the beautiful drive back to Marrakech. The hike was a bit strenuous, but I am 74 years old and had no problem. The local guide will also adjust the route and length to your preferences. Highly recommended!
Our visit was perfect , our driver was waiting for us at the airport with a sign in our name , we then ran towards the mountains! A perfect time saver for a short stay; Mohamed our driver was great told us passionately the story of Marrakech along the way , he then drove us to Abdu in the valley of Imlil who was our Guide in the mountains , Abdu will remain my most beautiful meeting in Marrakech, he was great , adapting to our walking pace and our desires , taking pictures of us for incredible memories , they took us to places that we can not discover on our own , we then had lunch in a Berber house, the tagine was delicious and the host welcoming and discreet ; we then met our driver for a visit to local shops on the way home , argan oil and its manufacture , Berber carpet and their history .. we were then escorted to the Pension at the time we had asked; it was my most beautiful experience in Marrakech! I recommend without moderation
Great experience with a very nice and informative guide Rachid! He explains a lot about the flora and fauna and the way of living in this area.
Amazing hiking on the atlas mountain with nice giudes and friendly lunch in local houses. You must try.
Great guide, lunch in a typical house, tips all the way. Good photo spots. Great experience all week
Ismael drive us to Imlil. The drive flew by as he talked to us and answered questions. His English is excellent. In Imlil we met Omar (a local Berber) who took us on our 2 hour hike to the highest Berber village. We then had th opportunity to have lunch in his village, which was very special. We learnt a lot from Omar. On the drive home we stopped to buy a tagine (good to have a local with us!) Would highly recommend having a private tour.
We had a great day. Ismail picked us up from the designated place, about 5 min walk from our riad (there was no way to get any closer). We jumped into his mini bus - a merc with AC and the trip started. Boy, this guy is a trivia king. Prepare yourselves for riddles, historical facts and plenty of appreciation for food. The 1st stop was at the falls, where we were left to to capable hands of the local guides. We "climbed" the hill to get ot the waterfalls. Do not expect too much, as it is not the main point of the trip. There are other waterfalls that are more interesting. Then we headed off to the Berber's village about 2,000m above the sea level where we ate the best tajin around. The tranquillity of that meal experience was really memorable. Not to mention that amazingly tasting dishes. The girls kept them coming for a while until we got a food coma. Then we drove back to our place stoping here and there to take pictures. Overall experience - highly recommended!
A very nice day with a company of very dynamic and motivated local youth. 7 seater bus trip very comfortable, pleasant and considerate driver. Very effective bilingual guide, who knows his subject well! The camel ride – on the plains, it’s easier – is a little more fun, but the most impressive is the scenery that follows in the mountains. Small walk without difficulty around the village, ended by a very tasty meal on a beautiful terrace, facing the mountains. A must!
