We head out to Golconda, located 11 km away from the Hyderabad City. The Golconda fort is arguably the greatest hill fortress of India. Built in AD 1143 as a mud fort, it was fortified between the 14th and 17th centuries and served as the principle Palace of the Bahmani Sultans and the Qutb Shahi dynasty. Our guide will bring alive the history of this Fort and how it shaped the future of Hyderabad and its people.
Qutub Shahi Tombs were erected in the memory of the old kings of Golconda. The arch, columns, dome minarets, and galleries look exquisite and are surrounded by gardens called Ibrahim Bagh. As per legend, these tombs were revered during the rule of the Qutub Shahi Kings and even criminals taking refuge here were pardoned.
Choumahalla, the Palace of the Nizams who were at one time the richest people in the world is the next halt in this Hyderabad City Tour. Some of the noteworthy sections in this Palace include a water fountain, vintage cars, intricate carvings, glass chandeliers and the grand durbar hall. During the heydays of the Nizams, as many as 7000 attendants used to man this Palace! Our guide will give you an insight into the personal and political life of Nizams of Hyderabad.
Our final destination in the Hyderabad City Tour is Charminar, a monument that is symbolic of the city of Hyderabad. It was built in 1591 by Mohammed Quli Qutb Shahi, the fifth sultan of the Qutub Shahi dynasty to commemorate the end of a deadly plague attack of the city. This was a fantastic tour! Ms Shashi was an amazing tour guide, full of lots of great information. We went to Golconda fort, Qutub Shahi tombs, Chowmahalla, and Charminar. Ms Shashi was very knowledgeable and very friendly and accommodating. The car was very comfortable for a group of 4. Would definitely do this tour again!

Shashi was everything you could hope for in a guide! She has decades of experience and knows the history and culture so well that she could tie it all together like a tapestry as we visited each site. And to make it even better, she was so friendly and always happy to tailor the tour to what I was interested in. This tour is really well put together, and the pickup and drop-off from my hotel front door made it simple. Shashi also knows exactly what's interesting at each site, so you get right to the good stuff each time. Lunch was delicious and the restaurant was very nice, with Shashi explaining each dish and sharing about the local food and culture. I came back to my hotel with more than 10K steps on my watch, even with the car to drive us between sites, so comfortable walking shoes and a bottle or two of water are highly recommended. I would 100% recommend this tour to anyone, especially if Shashi is your guide! Thanks, Shashi!
