Itinerary
The white temple was created by Thai artist Chalermchai Kositpipat. With the construction of the temple he has set himself a memorial and made his hometown a great gift. The Ubosot is the absolute highlight of the visit.
Often mistakenly called Chiang Rai's Big Buddha for its large white statue that is actually a representation of the goddess of Mercy ( Guan Yin), Wat Huay Pla Kang is a mix of the 85 meter high Guan Yin stature, an amazing white temple and a pagoda in Myanmar style.
Wat Rong Suea Ten is simply called The Blue Temple. The large ordination hall was completed in 2016 and is therefore relatively unknown to tourists. The name Suea Ten literally means dancing tiger. The temple is similarly rich in artistic value and just as fantastic in the execution like the white temple. The creators of this blue wonder were once the disciples of the builder of the White Temple.
Wat Phra Kaew is probably the most famous of the Buddhist temples in Chiang Rai after the White temple and the Wat Huay Pla Kang. It is sometimes informally referred to as the Bamboo Temple of the Jade Buddha. It is the oldest temple of Chiang Rai dating back to the 14th Century and is home to a Jade Buddha replica of the original Jade Buddha discovered here.
Baan Dam (Black House) is the unique creation of national artist, Thawan Duchanee. It is a part art studio and part museum. The black house is an eclectic mix of traditional northern. A collection of around 40 buildings of varying shapes and sizes dotted around a peaceful garden.
Lalita Café in Chiang Rai is a fairytale-inspired café surrounded by lush gardens, waterfalls, and whimsical statues—an enchanting spot perfect for coffee, photos, and relaxing in a magical forest-like atmosphere.

This is a fantastic tour. Thidarat was so wonderful. She is so knowledgeable and shared stories and details about everywhere we went. We learned so much from her. We highly recommend, this is a must do in Chiang Rai!
Sky was absolutely lovely! Very professional and courteous. My mom got too hot towards the end of the tour, and Sky was happy to let her stay back in the car for the final stop at Guan Yin. Sky noticed my mom liked flowers and she suggested an additional stop at a gorgeous cafe after the tour concluded so my mom didn’t feel left out. Additionally, Sky made sure we ate lunch at an amazing local place that could cater to my mom’s food allergies. We never felt rushed during this long day of seeing temples. Sky gave a lot of historical information which I really enjoyed. She was one of the more informative guides we had!
