Itinerary
The journey begins at the iconic Isthmus of Corinth, a narrow land bridge that has connected the Peloponnese with mainland Greece for millennia. The Corinth Canal, a marvel of 19th-century engineering, cuts through the rock to create a shortcut for maritime trade. The panoramic views and historical importance of this site provide an excellent introduction to the adventure.
Next is the Diolkos, an ancient stone-paved road that allowed ships to be transported overland across the Isthmus. This engineering feat played a crucial role in Corinth's maritime dominance and remains a testament to the ingenuity of ancient times.
The eastern port of Kenchreai, a key commercial hub during the Roman era, serves as the next destination. This historic site is where Apostle Paul arrived in 53 A.D. Today, the remnants of Roman harbor facilities, temples, and early Christian structures bring to life the vibrant history of ancient Corinth.
Glauke Fountain The tour continues to the Glauke Fountain, carved into the hillside and steeped in mythological significance. According to legend, Glauke, the daughter of King Creon, sought refuge here after being poisoned by Medea. This site adds a touch of mythology to the historical narrative of Corinth. Paul's Column in the Roman Forum The Bema, an elevated platform in the Roman Forum, is the next highlight. This is where Apostle Paul delivered his teachings in a city dominated by pagan traditions. The site later became a Christian church, embodying the cultural and religious transformations of the time.
The Temple of Apollo, one of the oldest Doric temples in the Peloponnese, showcases the grandeur of ancient Greece. Its towering columns and commanding presence highlight the city’s wealth and religious traditions. This stop provides insight into the cultural backdrop Apostle Paul encountered during his mission.
The Bema of Apostle Paul in Ancient Corinth is a significant historical and religious site. This elevated platform in the Agora served as a place for public addresses and legal rulings. During the Roman period, it functioned as a tribunal where governors issued judgments. According to tradition, Paul the Apostle was brought before Gallio, the Roman proconsul, around 51 AD. Accused of spreading new religious teachings, Paul was dismissed by Gallio, allowing him to continue his mission. This event, recorded in Acts 18:12-17, marks Corinth as a key site in early Christian history. Today, the Bema is both an archaeological and spiritual landmark, drawing visitors seeking connection to the biblical narrative. Modern mosaics depicting Paul’s trial and journey enhance the atmosphere, making it a profound site of reflection within the ancient ruins of Corinth.
The Archaeological Museum of Corinth offers an extensive collection of artifacts, from prehistoric relics to Roman-era treasures. Statues, pottery, and items from the Sanctuary of Asklepios are displayed in a beautifully curated space, offering a glimpse into Corinth’s rich history.
The ancient fortified acropolis of Acrocorinth provides breathtaking views and layers of history. Visitors encounter ruins from classical Greece alongside Byzantine, Frankish, and Ottoman fortifications, highlighting the city’s long-standing significance.
The journey concludes at the Apostle Paul Church, a three-aisled basilica built in 1936 on the site of an earlier church established by Apostle Paul. This sacred space commemorates Paul’s profound influence on Corinth and the early spread of Christianity.

Pericles is an excellent and knowledgeable of the history of Paul’s journey, pre-BC Greece and religion, the Greek Orthodox Church, Protestantism, and Catholicism and their intersections. We highly recommend Pericles as your driver/tour guide. Our goal was go learn about and hear about Paul’s walk to and through Corinth. We got that and more!
Thank you very much for your wonderful review! It was a pleasure sharing the history of St. Paul’s journey and the rich religious and cultural heritage of Greece with you. I’m delighted that the tour exceeded your expectations, and I truly appreciate your recommendation. Safe travels and God bless!
This was a highlight of our visit to Athens! Pericles brings the life and ministry of Paul’s journey alive as you visit historic sites and imagine what he was up against facing the culture of his time. It is an amazing journey taking you from the archeologic site where Paul landed to the market stalls in Corinth where Paul sold tents and spread the word of the gospel. Along the way Pericles also shared the journey of Greece as a nation and what life is like now- a wonderful opportunity to explore another culture and their traditions. Everything was well timed and follows your interests- the beauty of taking a private tour. The restaurant near the castle Pericles took us to was beautiful, overlooking a valley and served fresh delicious food. We would highly recommend this tour for everything it offers.
Thank you so much for your wonderful review and kind words. It was truly a pleasure sharing the journey of St. Paul and the history of Greece with your family. I’m delighted that you enjoyed the experience, the local culture, and our lunch stop. I wish you all the best and hope to welcome you back to Greece in the future!
What a great way to see the countryside and beaches just outside of Athens. The tour has a focus on the apostle Paul but what you will see is so much more. You will history about the country, Greek history and biblical history. Two places you must include in this tour: 1) the Greek museum in Corinth with includes the Temple of Apollo and the city surrounding the temple. You could spend a whole day here. Better preserved city than Ancient Agora. 2) Lunch at Castro Resto and Coffee. After a hike to the castle (or not- I have up), having lunch at the restaurant is second to none. The view of the countryside is breathtaking and the food is the best we have had in Greece (and we have been here for a week). You must try the orange cake. We thoroughly enjoyed our day with Dimitris. He was a great tour guide, having a lot of knowledge of the area, history and people. We look forward to coming back and doing a wine tour with his recommendations. We wanted to go to Delphi but didn’t have the time for an all day trip. I am so glad it worked out this way- truly amazing day.
Thank you for your wonderful review! We’re delighted that you enjoyed the tour and that Dimitris helped make it such a memorable experience. We truly appreciate your recommendations and look forward to welcoming you back for a wine tour on your next visit to Greece. Safe travels and thank you again! 😊🇬🇷
I had a most wonderful day with Periklis. In addition to sharing the history of each site, he was compassionate and kind, making a stop when I needed and working to ensure I was comfortable.
Thank you so much for your kind words. It was truly a pleasure spending the day with you. I’m glad you felt comfortable and enjoyed the experience. Wishing you wonderful memories from Greece and safe travels! 😊🇬🇷
