Phenomenal Tour of Acropolis & Parthenon with Sophia as Our Guide

We did the tour at 5pm and it was amazing all due to our phenomenal tour guide Sophia! If you have the opportunity ask specifically for her as she gave us so much detail that she really brought everything we saw to life and gave it meaning. She truly loves the history of these beautiful places and she wants to bring that knowledge and beauty to everyone on the tour. Sophia’s enthusiasm is captivating, plus she is so caring about stopping throughout the tour to find shade on the walk to the top as this is a strenuous climb especially in the heat. Be prepared with water, sunscreen, a hat and some sneakers as you will need something to stop you tripping/slipping. A truly amazing experience with easy check-in and the office is close to the starting point up to the Acropolis. Thank you Sophia we had an amazing time!

Great Tour with Vangelis – A Must-Do in Athens

My partner and I had a wonderful time on this tour with Vangelis. From the beginning, the logistics were seamless; check-in was easy, and the instructions on where to meet were clear. Vangelis was highly knowledgeable and provided an extensive, detailed tour of the Acropolis, the Parthenon, and the associated museum. We felt that having him as a guide added a lot of depth to what we were exploring—it brought the ancient history to life in a way we couldn't have experienced on our own. He was patient with our group (which was mostly Canadian and American, meaning there were no language barriers or communication issues). We were a curious bunch, and even though the tour had a set schedule, Vangelis didn't mind going over time to allow for plenty of interactions and questions. We saw this as a huge positive. He also paced the tour well, making sure we had enough time to take photos at the key sites. As a minor but appreciated detail, we also liked that he was firm when non-paying tourists tried to sneak into our group, ensuring we got the experience we paid for. We highly recommend this tour—it is well worth the price. Definitely do the museum add-on; it elevates the entire experience and adds so much more context to the ruins.

Acropolis tour

Fantastic and well organised visit. Antonia the tour guide was amazing. Very knowledgeable but also very caring in the extreme heat, dealing with the crowds and the amount of walking. Glad I pre booked before we went to avoid the queues although it was very busy even arriving early. I did think it was quite expensive for a family of four but worth it.

Best tour we had in Greece!

Mike G. Was the best tour guide we had on our 14 day Greece trip. We had many tours with guides and by far he was our favorite! He was super friendly and funny right from the start and his knowledge of the Acropolis and Greek history/ mythology was outstanding! I HIGHLY recommend the Acropolis Parthenon guided tour and museum with Mike G.

5 Stars for John the Archaeologist & Athens Walks!

John the archaeologist was perhaps the best tour guide I've had via Viator. He works for an agency called Athens Walks. His knowledge and historical lessons provided throughout the tour were amazing. This three-hour tour included the Acropolis (Parthenon) and the Acropolis Museum. After we entered the archaeological site, he led us to a shady spot and spent about 15 minutes providing a great historical background on the overall site. We walked by the Odeon and the Theater and then spent about an hour up on the Acropolis. It was a very hot day, but we had cooling towels and lots of water. It was my third time visiting, so I really enjoyed the deeper insights provided by an archaeologist. The new museum is incredible and a significant upgrade from the one that was on the acropolis. I would highly recommend this particular tour if you love history and are fortunate enough to have it led by John the archaeologist.

Amazing.

Our tour guide was Elli and she was absolutely brilliant and made the tour that much better. The overall experience was easy to book and check into. The headsets were easy to use and not an hassle to wear. Elli was personable, very knowledgeable, had a great sense of humor, and made the tour a lot of fun. She was able to tell us about each of the locations we visited, the mythological stories as well as the history about the locations, and was able to answer questions anyone in the group asked. Even when unsure she took the time to look up a response to be accurate. She was able to provide us with breaks, time in the shade when available, and took pictures of the group when people asked.

John the Archeologist is outstanding!

John is an excellent guide. He is a brilliant academic who makes 2500 years of history accessible in a warm and entertaining way. He also showed genuine care for those on the tour—making sure to seek out shade and places to sit during explanations wherever possible, taking photos with our cameras, guiding us to water—and reverence for the physical space.
