Cross the Tian'anmen Gate you will reach the Forbidden City which is the imperial palace from the Ming and Qing Dynasties. For around 500 years , it served as the home of emperors and their households, as well as the ceremonial and political center of Chinese government The tour route : Forbidden City is divided into two parts. The southern section, or the Outer Court was where the emperor exercised his supreme power over the nation. The northern section, or the Inner Court was where he lived with his royal family. After exit from the back gate of the Forbidden City you will cross the underground to the Jingshan Park, a green space in the heart of Beijing, used to served as an imperial garden during the Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties. You have the opportunity of overlooking the whole of the Forbidden City from the top of the park and see the Beijing Central Axis.

Our tour guide James from Catherine Lu tour company was excellent. He made sure we went to the right places at the right time, as the queue to the museum can get very crowded very quickly especially during the weekend. We spent many hours at the museum before visiting Jingshan Park. He even extended the tour and brought us to Beihai Park as a bonus! After that he made arrangements for our transportation to our dinner place. Throughout the tour he was very considerate with pacing as I had elderly parents with me. It was truly a great experience!
