Private Guided Hike on Mt. Rigi with Farm Visit and BBQ

Description
Locals agree that Mt Rigi is one of Switzerland’s most favorite places for hiking Mount Rigi, also known as the “Queen of the Mountains”, is THE mountain peak where Swiss alpine tourism began over 200 years ago. It may not be as high as its opposite peak, Mt Pilatus, but a round trip to the summit of Mt Rigi and a hike along its ridge path with spectacular views is always worth the trip. Highlights of this tour: 2-3 hours of easy walking on marked trails with panoramic views over the Alps and lakes We will have a light BBQ lunch – your guide will take care of the fire and logistics. In winter we will have a light lunch at a local restaurant. (Vegetarians – please warn us in advance!) 4 types of public transportation – local train, cogwheel railway, aerial cableway and and boat Option to include time at the Rigi Kaltbad Mineral Spa Bath indoor/outdoor facilities.

Fun tour, four stars only because in my opinion, the tour is way overpriced. Livia was a great guide (loved the story about Wilhelm Tell) the visit to the cheese factory and barbecue was OK, the owner was a little rude because we didn't speak German, also, I do understand it is a farm, but they were pumping and spreading the cow menure right next to the restaurant. Livia did a great job with lunch and the BBQ. I would recommend but I'd cut the price by at least 30%.
Thank you for your feedback on the Private Guided Hike on Mt. Rigi. We’re glad to hear that you enjoyed the tour and appreciated Livia’s guidance and storytelling. We apologize for the inconvenience at the cheese factory and farm. We’ll address this with the owner to ensure a better experience for future guests. Your comments about the pricing are noted and will be considered for future tours. Thank you for your honest review and recommendation.
We like seeing hidden gems when on vacation and this was definitely one. We loved getting to hike on some lesser traveled pass and get up close and personal to the roaming cows. Having Mark do a bbq in one of the outposts was a wonderful and unique experience. Taking the ferry back was an unexpected bonus that allowed the trip to really show all aspects of the area.
Thank you Jessica for the lovely feedback! We are very pleased to hear that you enjoyed the Rigi hike with Mark. It sounds like it was an amazing experience and we can't wait to have you on our next hike soon!
Fantastic experience! Our guide Ezra is a native of Lucerne and he went above and beyond for us with our hike and explanation of the culture and history. Request Ezra for sure
Thank you for the awesome review! We're very happy to hear that you had a fantastic experience with Ezra. We're so glad he could make your hike memorable. We look forward to seeing you again soon!
Ezra was an amazing tour guide. Extremely knowledgeable and full of so many interesting facts and history. We were very lucky to be able to spend the day with Ezra - tour guide extraordinaire!!
Thank for your sharing your day tour experience with Ezra that we'll pass on. With best, René Welti
My son and I had the most amazing time on this tour. We actually spent the night at the farm. Our guide, Andrea was the best and we hope to remain in contact with him. I can't express the level of care and compassion he had for my son and I. Also his knowledge of Mount Rigi and the culture was an added benefit. He BBQ a lunch of us over a campfire and we chatted about our lives. It was the highlight of pir two week tour of the area. I would definitely recommend this tour! The overnight at the farm was awesome too. Our host Tony was very accommodating and the fondu dinner he prepared was the best ever! Our room was comfortable and very clean. The morning we awoke to a beautiful breakfast with many choices ranging from fresh croissants, fresh fruit, eggs, cheeses and local meats. I want to go back just writing this review. This was well planned and very professional from start to finish. Great job to Rene and your team. We will be back!!
Dear Julie, Thank you for sharing your Mt. Rigi, Cheese- Dairy farm day hike and overnight experience. This is one of Lake Lucerne's "local secrets" and we are so pleased you and your son really enjoyed yourselves. Yes, the Tony Franz Kennel fondue is the best because it's his cheese and you are eating it at 5,000 ft overlooking the Central Swiss Alps. This is one of Switzerland's most authentic & sustainable experiences all within easy access from Lucerne. Personally, this is one of my favourite places and even I visit as much as I can, it's always a highlight. Wishing you a future return to this place. With best, René Welti
Our guide David was fun and knowledgeable...We thoroughly enjoyed our guided hike, from start to finish. The scenery was spectacular and the hike was just our pace..David asked our preferences and was very accommodating. We couldn't have asked for a better excursion. He prepared a lovely snack over the fire pit among the beautiful Swiss landscape and the sounds of dairy cow bells in the distance.
Thank you for sharing your Swiss Alps Day tour experiences. Wishing you many wonderful adventures. With best, René Welti
Excellent and accommodating outfit with knowledgeable guides. Great way to spend a day from hiking to taking the cog train, gondola and boat.
Thank you for sharing your experience on one of our Day tours. Wishing you many more memorable adventures. René Welti
We had scheduled four tours with ECHO Rails & Trails Adventures company in Lucerne and surrounding areas. Not only everything was perfectly organized and managed by Andrea Caspani, Director of Operation, but we felt, in every instance, that our guides (we had two guides: Andrea and Glenn) truly cared about us. We were presently surprised by the diversity of our tours: from panorama and country walk to real alpine hiking (Mt. Rigi and Heart of Alpine hike). These four tours with ECHO Rails & Trails will definitely become eye-opening, adventurous and stanning journey – something we will remember for long time! We definitely will be back! Thank you both Andrea and Glenn, we were very happy with you! Respectfully, Tatiana Smirnova and Mikhail Sher, From Minnesota, USA
Dear Tatiana & Mikhail, Thank you for sharing your collective thoughts after doing "four" different Lake Lucerne region tours with us. How special for you to stay in Lucerne and experience the diversity of what you sought. Yes, this Lake Lucerne region can be your "Swiss Experience". The cudo's about Glenn and Andrea are appreciated and will be forwarded. Wishing you many more such wonderful experiences. With best, René Welti
