Three capitals of ancient Egypt in one day, in chronological order, with a licensed Egyptologist who connects them into the actual story. You start in Memphis, the original Old Kingdom capital where Ramses II's colossal limestone statue lies in the open-air museum. Then to Saqqara, the royal necropolis where the Step Pyramid of Djoser, the very first pyramid ever built, rises out of the desert. Finally to Giza, where the pyramid form reached its monumental peak with the Great Pyramid of Khufu, the Sphinx, and a camel ride along the ridge. Lunch included at a quality local restaurant. Itinerary
Your tour starts at Memphis, the original Old Kingdom capital of ancient Egypt. The open-air museum centers on the colossal limestone statue of Ramses II lying on its back, with the alabaster sphinx and other artifacts arranged in the surrounding garden. Your Egyptologist explains how Memphis ruled Egypt for centuries before the capital moved north.
On to Saqqara, the royal cemetery that served Memphis. You see the Step Pyramid of Djoser, the very first pyramid ever built, designed by the architect Imhotep around 2,650 BC. Your Egyptologist explains how the step pyramid evolved into the smooth-sided Pyramids of Giza you will see next.
You continue to the Giza Plateau, where the pyramid form reached its monumental peak. You stand at the base of the Great Pyramid of Khufu, hear the construction theories, and have time at the panoramic view point.
Your final stop is the Great Sphinx of Giza, plus your included 15 to 20 minute camel ride along the desert ridge with a licensed handler, the Pyramids framed behind you for photos. Your Egyptologist explains the Sphinx's disputed age and what it actually represents.

With Jessy the whole day was a very nice memory!! I felt so safe and comfortable, I would do the tour with her again every time! Everything is taken care of before you think about it and the lectures on the incredible places we visited were very informative but also very easy to understand. The tour guide was great. He was patient, friendly and accommodating. However there was a mixup with booking. What we booked was tour with lunch and camel ride.However the agent, Egypt day tours said the lunch and camel ride was not included. He was consistent that we have not booked the tour with the extras.

Ayoub our tour guide was great. He had planned the whole day to miss all of the crowds to allow us a more personalized visit. He was extremely knowledgeable about the area and took time to explain each locations history in great detail. He also was kind enough to stop to get us drinks, several times during the tour. The driver Sfeena, perfectly navigated us through the busy Cairo streets. Carefully picking us up at locations to minimize unnecessary additional walking, which in hot Cairo weather is appreciated.
It was a wonderfull experience. The agency arranged everything nicely and our guide Ahmed (Amadeo) was excelent.

Our trip was great. Our tour guide Mina Wafsy was friendly, knowledgeable and patient. Took us everywhere we wanted to go and allowed us to spend as much time at each place as needed. Would highly recommend!

We had the best time while in Egypt and loved working with Egypt Day Tours. They were excellent and reasonably priced! We found them reliable, attentive and very accomodating. They took care of everything. Our tour guide, Hosny, was the best. Friendly, personable, and knowledgeable about all things Egyptian. We did two days of tours with him while in Cairo. The full-day trip to Giza pyramids, Sakkara, and Memphis and the 2nd day we did the Egyptian Museum, Citadel, Muhammed Ali Mosque as well as several churches. I want to go back and will definitely use them again.
