This private day trip is a pleasant way to spend your time. It includes the transportation from Vienna to 2 sightseeing stops in Mauthausen and Melk, two of the most touristic and popular places in this region, where the views and sights will definitely get your attention. Your private driver will then take you back to Vienna, where your private service ends. All this in the comfort of a private car with an English-speaking local driver who knows the area and will be happy to share information with you. For 1 to 3 people, we will provide a sedan. For 4 people, we will provide an MPV. For 5 to 7 people, we will provide a van. If you prefer a larger vehicle and wish to ensure additional space during your trip, please choose a different number of travelers in the booking form according to this description. Start the day trip with the pick up at your desired time and place in Vienna. Our driver will meet you at your pick up location and the adventure begins going to Mauthausen!
The first stop of this day trip is in Mauthausen Concentration Camp. This was a Nazi concentration camp located on a hill above the market town of Mauthausen.
On the way back to Vienna, we'll stop at Melk Monastery, a magnificent Benedictine abbey on a rocky promontory above the town of Melk.
After the time in Melk you can relax and get some rest while we take you back to Vienna.

The tour was very good and well organized. Our driver, Eduard, arrived on time at the agreed time. He didn't stop right at the hotel door, but we walked very little, which didn't become a problem. The first stop was in Mauthausen. The site is extremely impactful and well preserved, with several original areas and a complete museum, with lots of historical information. It is important to know that access to the field is free, and I strongly recommend carrying headphones, as it is possible to download an official app with explanatory audio on various specific points of the memorial — this makes a lot of difference in the experience. Then we went to the Melk Basilica, where we had a guided visit. The place is beautiful, rich in history and art, and worth a visit. At the end of the tour, Eduard even indicated us an excellent restaurant of typical local food, which was a great closure for the day. Just an important point of enlightenment for future travelers: the driver knows the locations well, assists with logistics, entry and ticket purchase, but does not follow the visits or act as a tourist guide during the visited points. Overall, it is a very interesting, comfortable and well planned tour, especially for those seeking to meet Mauthausen and Melk in a single day departing from Vienna.

There are no words to describe this amazing day. There is so much history to learn and seeing Mauthausen is such a sobering experience. Melk was beautiful. My tour guide was Amazing the weather was not good however the tour of the castle was truly beautiful the views were breathtaking we walked around the quaint town of Melk which I’m glad we did , we came across a little vintage shop, walked in and snagged an original Louis Vuitton bag for 16 euro And some other designer goodies . It was raining and my husband found a Burberry rain coat for 24 euro then we met our driver who had a comfortable mercedes E class like new and continued our journey on the way the driver recommended a nice shopping center where we had some authentic pastries and coffee under 18 euros for 2 As we continued our trip to mauthausen the lush hills and grasslands were breathtaking After arriving at our final destination and visiting this concentration camp you can’t not feel the pain the prisoners went through. Bring your tissues it’s emotional it made me think of what the hostages must be going through now who were taken on Oct 7 in Isreal Anyway I recommend this trip

Driver was courteous and helpful, and dropped off at the different spots (including pointing us to restaurants for lunch in Mauthausen) instead of having to walk long distances. Ride to and from Vienna was comfortable. Driver was patient to wait in each location for as long as we needed to see the sights or take the tour, and volunteered to take some pics of us as well. Great value for a full day!
