Description
Located about 25 miles (40 km) northwest of Ho Chi Minh City, the Cu Chi tunnels consist of a vast network of 155 miles (250 km) of tunnels connecting underground living and cooking areas, storage facilities, weapons factories, field hospitals, command center but also hundreds of trap doors. Initially dug with simple tools and bare hands for the fight against the French in the 1940s, the tunnels were then extended by Vietnamese revolutionary soldiers during the "American War" in the 1960s and 1970s. It became a large, multi-story, deep underground city providing hiding spots, as well as communication and supply routes, helping the Vietnamese revolutionaries. On this tour, you'll get to experience what it was like for those who called these tunnels home and how they endured.

Our family of five really enjoyed our half day to the tunnels - very interactive and done really well for kids and adults alike. Our tour guide Typhoon Honey was excellent, very enthusiastic and full of great stories and very knowledgeable of the Vietnam war period. He went out of his way to make sure we were engaged and enjoying ourselves. Driver Loc was ace too! Highly recommend for families.

Highly recommend the Cu Chi Tunnels half day tour. I wasn’t sure what to expect at first, but it ended up being one of the highlights of my trip to Vietnam. The ride from Ho Chi Minh City took around 1.5 hours, but the van was comfortable so it wasn’t tiring at all. Once we arrived, our guide gave us lots of background about the war and how the tunnels were used. Seeing the tunnels in real life was pretty mind-blowing. They’re so small and narrow, it’s hard to imagine people actually lived and moved through them every day. Crawling inside was a bit claustrophobic for me but I’m glad I tried it. We also tried shooting an AK47 for the first time – definitely a unique experience that I’ll never forget. Overall, the schedule was well-paced. We had enough time to learn, take photos, and explore without feeling rushed. It’s a half day well spent if you want to understand more about Vietnam’s history in a hands-on way.

Amazing experience at the Cu Chi Tunnels! Our guide was energetic and made the whole trip fun and informative. He explained everything clearly and even showed us some hidden spots. The driver was polite and the van super comfy. My kids still talk about crawling through the tunnels!

We had a half day private tour of the Cu Chi tunnels with Tam while on holiday in Saigon. The pick up was seamless with good communication with the organiser. We had some issues with travel the day before but they were able to adjust the timing slightly no problem which was great. Cold water and towels were provided. It was a hot day but we stayed comfortable with the air con in the vehicle and not out in the hot for too long. The attraction itself is really interesting and it's great to learn of the history of it. Our tour guide Tam was very knowledgeable and knew just the right amount of information to give us, and very happy to answer all our questions about the war and Saigon. He explained it all very sensitively and from all sides, it was a great way to learn about it not just from history books. Although it was quite busy, Tam knew just where to take us so we could see all the exhibits but not get caught up in the crowds, we really appreciated that.
