The Zappeion is a large, palatial building next to the National Gardens of Athens in the heart of Athens, Greece. It is generally used for meetings and ceremonies, both official and private and is one of the city's most renowned modern landmarks.
The National Garden or Royal Garden is a public park (38 acres) in the center of the Greek capital. It is located directly behind the Greek Parliament building (The Old Palace) and continues to the South to the area where the Zappeion is located, across from the Kalimarmaro. The Garden also encloses some ancient ruins, side are the busts of Ioannis Kapodistrias, the first governor of Greece, and of the Philhellene Jean-Gabriel Eynard, of the celebrated Greek poets Dionysios Solomos, author of the Greek National Hymn, and Aristotelis Valaoritis.

It successfully combines an old established name and authority with dynamic development and creative participation in modern letters and science. It is the oldest University in the country, founded by the Royal Decree of 22 April 1837 under the name “Othonian University”, as the first king of modern Greece, Otto of Bavaria, was its founder. Initially, it consisted of four Schools (of Theology, Law, Medicine, and Philosophy, the latter still comprising at that time Mathematics and Applied Sciences) with a total of 52 students. Its first seat was a neo-classical house on the north slope of the Akropolis hill, originally the home of the architect Stamatis Kleanthis (today the Museum of the University’s History is housed there).
The Academy of Athens is Greece's national academy, and the highest research establishment in the country. It was established in 1926, with its founding principle traces back to the historical Academy of Plato, and operates under the supervision of the Ministry of Education. Once the most luxurious public building in the city, Hadrian’s Library was erected around AD 132. It has an internal courtyard and pool bordered by 100 columns.
The Stoa of Attalos was a stoa in the Agora of Athens, Greece. It was built by and named after King Attalos II of Pergamon, who ruled between 159 BC and 138 BC.
The agora was a central public space in ancient Greek city-states. It is the best representation of a city-state's response to accommodate the social and political order of the polis. The literal meaning of the word "agora" is "gathering place" or "assembly".

Andreas provided a wonderful tour of Athens. We had an awesome time.
This tour was amazing! I found the tour “Private City Tour of Athens” with Greece Athens Taxi from a link my local travel agent sent me. Marina from GAT reached out to me right away. She confirmed our booking and let me know the other services they offer. One was airport pickup and drop off. I immediately booked an airport pickup. Our driver was Andreas, who was also our tour guide. I booked our tour for the day after we arrived in Athens. When Andreas picked us up, he graciously took us to a local coffee shop for coffee and a quick breakfast. Andreas took us all over Athens. This is what we saw, maybe not in the correct order. The Acropolis (GAT secured our skip-the-line tickets) and Mars Hill (Andreas was very detailed about how to get to Mars Hill after we left the Acropolis). The Changing of the Guards, Olympic Stadium, a fantastic view of the city of Mount Lycabettus, and the colleges. By the time we got to the colleges, we were exhausted, so we took pictures with Plato and Aristotle on another day. The entire time, Andreas was telling us details of the different neighborhoods, museum locations, monuments, and the symbolism of the Guards' uniform. He is very knowledgeable, detailed, and answered any questions. Our tour ended with a drop off in Monastiraki for shopping. Andreas has become my go-to for airport pickups, drop offs, and tours. I highly recommend Greece Athens Taxi with Andreas.

Excellent experience from booking to communication with Operator (Marina) and then the actual tour with Spyros. The tour is set up to be tailored to whatever you want to see and though the driver is not a guide our experience with Spyros was that he was as knowledgeable as any guide and shared pertinent information regarding the sites and Athens in the general. Great experience, highly recommend.

Our private driver, Spyros, was beyond excellent! He navigated and explained Athens extremely well despite the heavy rain. He even purchased new umbrellas for us to use that was a life saver while at the Acropolis. By the end of our tour, the four of us felt so comfortable with our new friend. I highly recommend this tour with Spyros!

Hello from Athens!!!!Thank you so much for this wonderful review! We’re truly delighted to hear how much you enjoyed the tour. We hope to welcome you again on another adventure in Greece! Many thanks, Marina
I cannot say enough about the wonderful tour we had with Konstantinos! We had a long wait after our cruise before we needed to go to the airport. I reached out last minute to see if we could book a tour to take us to the temple of poseidon and from the moment we enquired, the customer service was exceptional! We were picked up at the cruise port and Konstantinos gave us a bunch of options to spend our day. We visited Platka, the coast (which was stunning) the temple and then had a late lunch before being dropped off at the airport. Konstantinos answered questions and gave us history about the places we passed by. It was a wonderful way to finish up our trip and we didn't have to spend day waiting to catch our flight. We'll worth the money! Thank you so much for the tremendous day!
