Fabulous

Cape Town's one of those places that's different every time you go, right? Had a great experience thanks to Jean, who showed us around and shared some real insight into the city's history. Table Mountain was the highlight, the queue's crazy in December, but totally worth it. We got lucky with the weather - they closed the top just after we got there. Was cool to see how much there is to do up there, had food and even caught a DJ. Jean sorted the tickets, so we skipped the hassle. After that, did a city tour and learned some interesting stuff about Cape Town's history and architecture.

December queues can indeed be quite crazy, but in the end the experience is rewarding. It was wonderful to guide you through the city’s history and architecture, and we're pleased the tour offered both insight and enjoyment. We hope the memories of your trip, from the Robben Island Museum to the city’s vibrant culture, will stay with you for ever. Wishing you many more journeys filled with discovery, and we look forward to welcoming you back whenever you return to explore more of what this city has to offer. Beyond Expectations!!

Robben Island was cancelled due to an event on the island. However our guide Jean, was very accommodating and provided additional activities in lieu of the Robben Island tour. He had a wealth of information and was incredibly knowledgeable about Africa's rich history. It was evident that he loves what he does, and we felt very fortunate to have been paired with him.

Operator response

While we're sorry the Robben Island tour couldn't go ahead as planned, we're delighted to hear that Jean made your experience memorable nonetheless. His passion for Africa’s rich history and dedication to creating meaningful moments truly shine through, and we’re thrilled that you felt so well taken care of. We hope to welcome you again soon for more unforgettable adventures! Warm regards, Sue, Golden Eagle Tem.

Private Guide is NOT a Private Guide

The tour was booked with Viator and a private guide. The guide did NOT go on the Robben Island Tour and canceled the second half of the tour due to weather, out of their control. Viator refunded half of the cost of the private tour. They ghosted me after I requested a refund for the private guide portion of the tour, which the guide never event attended. I was happy to pay the for the tour, obviously, but not the for a private guide I never actually had.

Operator response

Dear Valued Client, Thank you for sharing your reflections on the tour. We truly value your feedback and regret that the experience did not meet your expectations. We’d like to kindly clarify a few points regarding the day’s itinerary: - City Tour Segment: The portion of the tour exploring the city did not proceed due to your personal decision to opt out at that time. Our guide was fully prepared to accompany you, and this segment was scheduled as part of your private experience. - Table Mountain Closure: Unfortunately, Table Mountain was closed on the day of your tour due to adverse weather conditions. This was a safety decision made by Table Mountain Aerial Cable Car management and was entirely outside our control. We understand the disappointment, but we hope you appreciate that guest safety is paramount. A refund was immediately made towards this inconvenience - Robben Island Tour Format: Robben Island tours are operated by the Robben Island Museum and are conducted on a shared basis. As is standard practice, the experience includes three official site guides—one on the ferry, one on the bus, and one inside the former prison, a museum today. While your private guide does not accompany guests onto the island itself -to accommodate more visitors-, he was present and ready to continue with you for the remainder of your private tour after the Robben Island segment. We sincerely regret that the day did not unfold as you had hoped, and we do appreciate your understanding of the logistical and weather-related constraints. We hope you’ll consider touring with us again in the future for a much better experience. Warm regards, Sue, Tourist Consultant.

Spectacular Experience

Jean was a spectacular guide, re-booking us efficiently when Robben Island tours had an unexpected same-day cancellation (rare occurrence). He even made efforts to coordinate alternate activities on the day of cancellation. He was very knowledgeable about the history of the city during the drive, pointing out many notable buildings and areas. He was also a great at multi-tasking as both guide and photographer at the top of Table Mountain.

Operator response

Astonishing experience!

This experience was my favourite so far! I love solo travelling a lot and my trip advisor Jean made it a lot better. It was so impressive to visit Cape Town’s historic landmarks and to get a view of the locals. Bo kaap colourful houses are exceptionally beautiful! The recyclable art gallery was my favourite spot to visit, it was incredibly displayed and showcased real talent. Table Mountain views are the best and incomparable. I will definitely visit again and will definitely book Golden Eagle!
