We spent an excellent private day trip to Ait Ben Haddou from Marrakech. Our driver and guide Hicham was fantastic, flexible and very competent. We spent an unforgettable day with him. Very comfortable trip with a Mercedes Van, very neat. During the drive he gave us plenty of explanations and showed us beautiful places in the Atlas Mountains to take pictures. Arrival at the site of Ait Ben Haddou sous were greeted by Saber who visited us Ait Ben Haddou. He was a very friendly young man who told us the story of this beautiful village and Berber culture. This excursion is 100% recommended. Thanks again to Hicham and Saber for their kindness and sharing. We will return to discover more beautiful places in Morocco
This was a long drive but it didn’t feel long because the sites were so beautiful and we stopped every hour for tea, a snack, or to take photos. Our driver’s name was Oussama (I may be spelling that wrong), he was really nice, he had water in the car for us and he made the trip really comfortable. He stopped at this amazing lookout point and took pictures for us. Stopping for tea and snacks along the way in such a beautiful place (the mountains) made it feel like the drive was part of the adventure. It was a private car, rather than a bus so it was a comfortable drive. Once we got to our destination, we met our local guide Hussain, who grew up in Ait Ben Haddou and knew the area well. We walked from the new town to the old town (located inside the fortress that is Ait Ben Haddou. Our guide said most families have moved to the new town because it has electricity and only two families are still living in the old town. It was built in the 11th century and thinking about how these families have been there this whole time is pretty incredible. We hiked all the way to the very top of the castle and it was tough but an incredible view! This isn’t a long hike but it’s high in elevation so I would highly recommend athletic wear, proper shoes, a hat, lots of water, and a high sugar snack to eat at the top. Hussain took pictures of us at the top with a great view behind us and he shared the history of the fortress and the Berber symbols we saw around the place. He had worked on some of the movies that were filmed there and showed us some pictures from them and a long list of movies (all filmed at Ait Ben Haddou). We watched a demonstration of a Berber artist who painted with lemon juice, saffron, sugar, and indigo. He showed us how Berber’s used to communicate by sending secret messages that the recipient would have to put on a fire to be able to see the message. Then we stopped at a women’s cooperative and saw how they made rugs. I wish I could have bought one from them. They were all so friendly and the rugs were so beautiful, and it is incredible how much work goes into making them. We walked back to the new town and had lunch at a restaurant. We had delicious authentic food for a great price and then Oussama took us back to our hotel. We fell asleep for half the drive back and then stopped for a snack. Overall, I think it was about an 11 hour day (8am-7pm) and it was a great time! I would highly recommend this experience! And I would highly recommend a private car.

It was a great experience. I came to Morocco after the Spanish pilgrimage. I did not accidentally get to know the desert tour at the hostel and I applied for it. I don't know where else, but the guide here explained it very kindly and was able to have a nice trip.

A wonderful day trip seeing amazing scenery, architecture and culture! Our driver Halid, met us at our Riad and provided us with the most relaxing journey, his driving skills were exceptional and made us feel safe at all times. A must do trip while in Marrakesh, and I would urge you to request the lovely Halid as your informative tour guide and driver. Thank you!

I recently visited Aitbenhaddou and was absolutely blown away by its mesmerizing beauty and rich history. The ancient kasbah is a true architectural marvel, with intricate details and stunning views at every turn. The well-preserved mud-brick buildings take you back in time, making you feel like you're stepping into a real-life movie set. Kamal the driver was friendly and professional, informative and sensitive to our comfort and enjoyment of the trip.ali the local guide were incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about his village. providing informative insights into the history and significance of Ait Benhaddou. They made the visit even more rewarding by sharing fascinating anecdotes and stories about the place. The surrounding scenery is breathtaking, with the majestic Atlas Mountains as a backdrop. A visit to Aitbenhaddou is a must-do for anyone seeking an immersive cultural and historical experience in Morocco.

If there is one thing you do whilst in Marrakesh make it this tour. Our driver was awesome, punctual, friendly and knowledgeable. We had a really enjoyable day, at our own pace and stopping whenever we wanted for a drink or just to take in the incredible scenery. Transport was comfortable and water provided for the long journey. Ait Ben Haddou is amazing and the guide there was also brilliant and we had great fun with him and learned so much. So stop scrolling other tours and book this one now. I promise you won’t be disappointed.
Dear vicki thank you very much for your review and support we are glad that you had a good experience with us in hope to see you again.
Our guide and driver were amazing. The driver stopped at a couple extra places that were not on the excursion. Can not say how much it enriched our experience and we appreciated it. The experience was great and glad we did it.
hello Mr David it's our duty to gave you the best experience in Morocco and we really appreciate your feedback thanks & regards from Marrakech-trip team
This was a great day trip from Marrakech, and our private driver/guide, Hecham, was absolutely phenomenal. We felt like old friends by the end of our day with him. His conversation, various stops along the way, and very safe driving all made the 4 hours each way seem not so long. Hecham pointed out various scenery and landmarks along the journey and was extremely knowledgeable and never seemed to tire of our questions. We enjoyed the opportunity to explore the Kasbah at Telouet, one of the hidden gems of this journey. While it was great to get to explore Ait Ben Haddou, we do wish we had more time there. The visit felt a little rushed which was a tad disappointing when that was the main stop of the trip. Our only suggestion would be to allow a little more time there- be it guided or explore-on-your-own. Logistically, Hecham met us in the lobby of our hotel for this tour and afterwards dropped us back at the hotel. He was an absolutely incredible guide and we would tour again with him in a heartbeat.
