Ponza, boat trip on board the Zannone 1954

Claudio is fantastic, and without a doubt the best way to experience ponza. I rented from him in 2023 and now 2026 and both times were fantastic. It is clearly visible he is passionate about his work and that passion directly translates into extra effort to make the tour great. Both times I rented his boat I felt he did absolutely everything possible to show us a good time and that is priceless.

We took a couple's trip aboard the Zannone 1954, and it was truly a special experience. Claudio is a fantastic person, kind, helpful, and passionate, capable of making you feel at home from the very first moment. The boat, with over 70 years of history, is impeccably maintained: cared for in every detail and kept with a love that is felt everywhere. When we first arrived in port, we had a bit of trouble with our cab. I walked into a restaurant to ask if anyone spoke English, and that’s when we first met Claudio. Not only did he help us find our cab, but little did we know he would soon become our guide and a highlight of our trip. The very next day, we ran into him again. My wife’s last name is Mazzella, and as we started talking, Claudio graciously offered to walk us to her family’s old home. To our amazement, he even introduced us to his mother, who recognized my wife’s grandmother from a photo we shared. It was one of those once-in-a-lifetime moments that we will never forget, made possible by Claudio’s kindness and generosity. Claudio also shared his rich history with his beautiful boat, Zannone 1954. If memory serves, he is the fourth generation to own it, and you can tell he takes immense pride in carrying on his family’s legacy. The boat itself is stunning, and his passion for Ponza and its waters shines through in every detail of his tours. It’s easy to see why TripAdvisor lists him and his boat as the #1 thing to do in Ponza. Between his warmth, hospitality, and deep knowledge of the island, Claudio made our trip unforgettable. Claudio was incredible in showing our family the beautiful sights of Ponza. The water was incredible, Claudio's piloting was smooth and he navigated the water well! He brought us some Prosecco and chips as a little snack, and brought us to a local restaurant for lunch. The cost was a little higher than other rides but Claudio makes it worth it with his stories and insights around the island and is such a pleasure to be with for the day. We booked Claudio for 7 hours and he was warm and inviting for our group of 7 and he even brought on some other family members who joined us after lunch. His boat was big enough for all of us!

Claudio is the absolute best guide to see Ponza! Very knowledgeable about the islands history, caters the tour based on the guests preference and comfort level, and ensure everyone has the best time. My family and I spent 7 hours on the boat and we were so incredibly happy with our day. Claudio made sure to make our experience unforgettable. The boat is beautiful and the views of Ponza from the water are breathtaking. Absolutely reccomend a day on Zannone with Claudio!

Claudio gave us an incredible day on the water. The Zanonne 1954 is a beautiful boat, and Claudio is an outstanding captain. He is professional, friendly, and deeply knowledgeable about Ponza. He has a deep passion for the island and his heritage, and he takes great pride in sharing it with visitors. We were a family of nine, including a few non-swimmers, and he made everyone feel completely safe and comfortable. His guidance and local insight made the trip an experience we will never forget. We only wish we had booked more than one day. We’ll definitely return to explore Palmarola with Claudio next time. Highly recommended!
