Yesterday, my wife and I visited Pannonhalma Arch Abbey with a Eurama private tour. Our tour guide was Christina, who with our driver picked us up at our Budapest hotel. Christina provided us with a detailed history of the Abbey from its founding by King Geza around the year 1000 through the present day. She not only knew the history of the Abbey well but also its importance to the Hungarian people through the centuries. The Abbey is an outstanding combination of many architectural styles and since the fall of communism has been renovated to serve the needs of the monastic community. In addition to touring the church, treasury and library, we were able to attend a brief midday prayer service with the monks and other visitors. The Abbey also manages an extensive herb garden, growing lavender and other fragrant herbs. Overall, the day trip from Budapest was outstanding addition to our visit to Hungary, largely due to the knowledge and skill of our tourguide. We would recommend a private tour to Pannonhalma as an enjoyable and easy way to visit this historic and sacred place.
Thank you so much, we are happy you have enjoyed! See you In Hungary again!

Very nice, worth a visit! The library is the best. I was there with my daughter and some friends when we were on our way to Gyor.
Danke sehr!!!
I truly enjoyed this private guided day tour to visit amazing monastery and two other places namely Gyor and Lébény. Ildiko is a very experienced and knowledgeable guide with 30 year career and you never get bored thanks to her interesting explanation on history, art, etc.
That was a pleasure, thanks a lot for your kind evaluation! See you here again! Ildiko
The library in the Archabbey will leave you breathless. The collection of books is quite extraordinary. The preserved original walls can be seen and the chapels are inspiring. Want to sit and take it all in. The views outside of the valley are spectacular. Did not make it to their winery -:(
Thank you!
We were pleasantly surprised by the preservation of the structure and documents at the arch abbey at Pannonhalma. We did the self guided tour which provided great information about the arch abbey. Cost of the self guided tour was reasonable. Wish guest parking could be closer to entrance.
Thanks a lot!
