From there, we head directly to the Panama Canal Miraflores Visitor Center (entrance fee not included), one of the country’s most iconic landmarks. This visit is scheduled so that 100% you will see ships, including massive vessels passing through the locks just meters away, some of which pay over USD 120,000 to transit the Panama Canal, underscoring its vital role in global trade. You’ll have time to explore the observation decks and learn how the locks operate, as well as the history behind this world-famous engineering marvel. Before the movie, you can relax at the visitor center’s cafeteria and enjoy refreshments with Canal views. After the movie we will bring you back to the meeting point. Miraflores Locks is one of the best places to understand how the Panama Canal works. On the Pacific side, visitors can watch ships being raised or lowered through the original lock system using freshwater from Gatun Lake and gravity alone. From the observation decks, guests see vessels pass just meters away while learning about canal operations through exhibits. The visit includes the IMAX Theater, featuring a high-definition film narrated by Morgan Freeman that explains the canal’s history, engineering, global importance, and the expansion with the new locks, creating a complete and engaging experience.
The former Clayton Military Base is a historic area that once served as a key U.S. Army installation in the Panama Canal Zone. Today, it has been transformed into a peaceful, green district known for its wide roads, tropical forest surroundings, and well-preserved military-era buildings. The area is now home to embassies, government offices, and Ciudad del Saber (City of Knowledge), an international hub for education, research, and innovation, offering a clear contrast between Panama’s canal-era history and its modern development.

Our driver Saul was a loverly guy and very informative. He made sure we knew where he would be at the end and didn’t rush us. We saw 3 ships into the locks and watched 2 of them leave the lock.
was a great experience! Our Tour Guide Raphael was very good! He was polite professional ..well informed and went the extra mile to stop to show us a sloth with added info after the tour. My only issue was that VIator needs to advertise the full price ..not the "TRANSPORT" only ..it is missleading as we still had to pay at the entity for entrance!
They picked us up at the indicated time. The guide Saul was very kind. During the trip, he was explaining everything to us. He accompanied us to get the tickets and then to see the canal.
Great tour! So many tours feel the need to pack in too many activities, which leave me feeling overwhelmed. I took this tour because I wanted to see the canal, and that’s exactly what we did. Saul is an excellent guide. He gave an interesting narrative on the way to the canal, threw in a bit of local history, and told us what to expect once we arrived at the canal. He thoughtfully sent me an advance link so I could skip the ticket queue. Once at the canal, he checked in with me twice, making sure all was well and updated me on the ships we were seeing. Afterward, he drove us back to our respective pickup locations. BTW, he is an excellent driver. An excellent way to spend the afternoon
We actually booked this on our own directly at the location. Lots and lots of history, we were fortunate enough to arrive as a cargo ship was coming through. It was amazing to see the gates open and the water level drop. The IMAX theater with Morgan Freeman‘s voice also added a very historical touch we learned a lot from watching the movie. I say it was worth it.
This tour greatly added to my experience of visiting the canal. We arrived at a perfect time to see ships going through, were guided through lines and security, and told the best lookout points. The timing for the ships and IMAX was excellent. Plus we learned more about the canal on the drive in both directions. I am so glad I chose this tour as my way to visit.

My grandson and I loved the entire experience! Panama Canal is a spectacular mechanism of engineering and a beautiful and breathtaking site that you have to see, with your own eyes, in person. I cannot describe the captivating experience enough that one can picture it. Saul our tour guide messaged me on WhatsApp ahead of time to let me know what time he would pick us up. He met us in the lobby, introduced himself and safely drove us to the Panama Canal. During the drive and the entire tour, he was sincerely warm, professional and highly intelligent and provided us with a wealth of knowledge, information and history of Panama and the Canal. You can genuinely feel the love he has for his country & culture! I would recommend Saul to anyone coming to Panama and wanting to learn more about it. In fact, I have no doubt that we were paired with the best tour guide anywhere!!! Hands down! I’ll be back soon as I am putting everything in place to relocate to Panama in the next, few short years and I would love to continue to learn more about this spectacular and beautiful country and its history.
