PLATANES IN TRSTENO – Two impressive plane trees, Platanus orientalis, soar to about 50 meters in height with a trunk circumference of 12 meters. Estimated to be 400 years old, these living giants hold immense scientific value. Nestled near the Adriatic Highway, they bear witness to Trsteno's rich history, located 18 kilometers from Dubrovnik's historic core. In Trsteno, a town once populated by wealthy merchants, shipowners, and seafarers, the trees were brought from Asia Minor by Captain Florio Jakob Antunov, known as "Indian." Only five young saplings survived, but the resilient duo thrived thanks to the local climate, a nearby water source, and the cultural ambiance of the time. The townspeople's care and provision for the plane trees, alongside their material legacies, have contributed to their preservation. These platanes symbolize both the cultural heritage and the scientific significance of Trsteno.

There was no water provided despite the description stating it would be. The oyster tasting was not informative at all. You drive an hour to buy oysters. It is also not mentioned that you need to pay for the oysters and the salt museum. Basically paying for a driver to take you to Ston and back.
Our experience with Oysters Testing Private Tour to Ston was absolutely unforgettable. From the moment we arrived in Ston, everything was perfectly organized and stress free. The view of the traditional salt pans, just like in the picture, was incredible. Seeing the fresh sea salt piled up against the beautiful green hills felt so authentic and peaceful. The tour was well paced and informative. We learned about the history of Ston’s famous salt production and enjoyed tasting fresh oysters straight from the sea. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. If you want a private, relaxed, and truly local experience in Ston, I highly recommend Oysters Testing Private Tour to Ston. It was the highlight of our trip and something we will always remember.
What we read and what was delivered were two different things. We were encouaged to enjoy the oysters not aware we were paying for them. Although only one euro each it would have been nice to know ahead of time. We were told about the salt 'museum' that we should see to learn about the production of salt but then at the entrance learned we had to pay 5 euros each only to watch a 7 minute video as production had stopped for the season. That was not mentioned beforehand. So basically it turned into a private (overpriced) taxi tour with a rather dangerous driver constantly texting while driving and answering or making phone calls. Some of the information he provided was inaccurate. Aside from being on time and providing a good recommendation for lunch we overpaid for an underwhelming trip to Ston. He also told us a story to make sure that we understood that he wanted a tip. For the money we paid, we could have rented a car and drove ourselves.
Customized and personal. Our guide was fabulous. Family run oyster tasting. Visited Ston and Mali Ston. Nice care. Great lunch also.
Enjoyed the tour immensely. Elvir was very personable and fun. He gave us a fantastic tour. If I'm in Dubrovik I would only tour with him.
Thank you so much
