Follow the footsteps of Maria while touring the breathtaking landscape of the Salzkammergut. See the famous Gazebo where Rolf and Liesl sang "16 going on 17 ". Enjoy a photo stop at Schloss Leopoldskron, and visit the Mondsee Wedding Chapel, where Maria walked along the aisle to meet the baron at the altar. Back In Salzburg, join the Edelweiss Cooking Class and make your own original Austrian apple strudel. Take part in all stages of preparation – of course also enjoying the lavish dessert at the end. Itinerary
Short visit to the Mirabell Gardens, either before or after the tour. Jump up and down the Do-Re-Mi steps and see the famous Pegasus fountain, where Maria and the Von Trapp kids danced around. Also, don’t miss the hedge maze tunnel on your right when walking towards the fortress for more breathtaking views of the city of Salzburg.
Photo stop at Schloss Leopoldskron. Enjoy from across the lake the beautiful view of the palace and the fortress as picture-perfect backdrop. Although the interior shootings were done in the studios, Hollywood used the beautiful Rococo Palace terrace as the perfect setting for Maria and the Baron dancing during the ball scene. The lake is also famous for the boat scene, where Maria and the children fell off the boat.
Photo stop at Hellbrunn Park, see the Original Gazebo, capturing the most romantic scene during the Sound of Music film when Liesl gets her first kiss while singing 16 going on 17.
At Mondsee you will visit the beautiful Basilica of St. Michael where Maria and Georg von Trapp got married in the movie: a must-see for any Sound of Music fan. Also, make sure to taste some apple strudel - before you make your own - while exploring this picturesque lakeside town during your 50 minutes of free time.
Edelweiss Cooking Class. After your Original Sound of Music Tour singing Edelweiss and My Favorite Things, it's time for making your own apple strudel. From our Bus Terminal, it is about 10 minutes walk to the cooking class (map on the voucher). Take part in all stages of preparation – of course also enjoying the lavish dessert at the end. Traditional goulash soup (vegetarian or vegan options also available) will be also served for lunch before you are indulging in your own baked delicacies.

Maybe I said that managed my expectations. The trip was OK. It was nice to see where the movie was filmed. It would’ve been great to be able to go into the gazebo. But I understand there are so many people that come throughthe tour. It’s difficult. I have issues with the description of the tour. I booked a cooking class along with the sound of music tour. The tour guide had very little information and there was confusion in regard to a lunch and beverage that was to be included. The was provided at the cooking class, but not until after 3 o’clock. In regard to the beverages, I was asked to pay for a beverage. That was not provided at either of the tour or cooking class. It clearly stated that a beverage was included. The cooking class was very good. Our instructor was friendly professional, and understood how to teach class properly. I thought we were only going to bemaking apple strudel, but we also made nockerl . I will definitely recommend the cooking class, but I can honestly say I will not recommend the tour.

We had an amazing time visiting all the sights of Sound of Music. Our tour guide, April, really made everything come alive! She was fantastic. As well as driver Sammy Davis Junior Jr. We laughed, we sang, we saw. After the bus tour, we made our way over to Edelweiss cooking. Our time there was enjoyable as well. The strudel making was fun and yummy! The cookies were delicious. It was great meeting folks from around the globe. If you are looking for a fun filled day, I would highly recommend this. You will not be disappointed.

Lots of good knowledge shared by the travel expert. Wish we could have gone closer to most of the sights. Too many are view from the bus! The stop in Mundsee was excellent - wish it could have been a little more time!

The Sound of Music Tour was everything we hoped it would be. Singing the songs from the movie while seeing the filming sites and hearing behind the scenes info about filming made for an enjoyable day. The Edelweiss Cooking class was lots of fun. We made apple strudel as planned but also made a Salzburg nockerl.

Best tour guides and bus driver ever ! Always feeling safe with this dynamic duo is a must on any tour. Ferdinand, the bus driver, did not disappoint ! Negotiating turns and hilltops with ease, there were never anxious moments. Thank you Ferdinand! As for the tour host, Jose should be awarded an Academy Award! " Let's start at the very beginning..." as the song goes, this man gives more information, humor, kindness and joy than any guide I've ever experienced in a bus tour.
