Highland Park, located in the heart of Baku and one of the favorite leisure places of the local residents, is regarded as one of the most beautiful parks of the capital city for a long time.İt is the highest Point of the city where you can see the best panoramic view of the Baku. Another commonly known name of the park among people is Viewing Square. In Soviet era, this park was named after Sergei Kirov. The one particular reason that makes the Highland Park unique is that it has a panorama looking over the city, Baku bay, Seaside National Park stretching along the bay. That explains the reason the park was called “Highland”. Back in 30s of XX century when the general layout of Baku was in progress, this very fact was assumed as a basis and it was taken into account that the Highland Park built in this area would play an important role in general architectural composition. The park was built in the place of the old graveyard based on the design of architect Ilyin using the rich variety of limestone of the quarries of Baku. By the way, another old name of the park – the English park - is related to this graveyard. It is said that in 1920s, English soldiers who came to Baku after the Russian Emperor dethroned were buried here along with the victims of March events of 1918.

Must do.... first day of trip

Had a great time with our Tour Guide, Sayed. Through the rain and all, we made it through all the destinations we wanted to see while getting a history and political lesson (and the history and political layout is one of complexity). Sayed was patient with us as there are so many picture worthy places (we had an influencer in our group who loved the camera) and Sayed is a great photographer. If you come to Baku, you should book this trip. It is a tour of around 3 hours, which I love that timing. I would suggest doing this tour when you first get here as Sayed will give you the best recommendations for what to do, see, shop and eat while you stay in Baku

Thank you for your wonderful review! We're so glad you enjoyed the tour with Sayed. We hope to welcome you again!

Old & New Baku

A very good way to see the main sights of Baku for a few hours on foot and with a knowledgeable, English-speaking local. Ideal for a 'first day' experience and our guide, Ayshen, was very friendly, informative, and linguistically skilled. I learned a lot!

Do the Baku old and modern tour!

Ayshen is a fantastic tour guide! She is incredibly knowledgeable about the regions history and you can tell she really enjoys giving the tour as well. Wonderful experience and would highly recommend. The price/fee is not very high either, you get a lot of value for your money and time. The sights and views are amazing and well worth it. Ask for Ayshen!
