Itinerary

Pass by

Columbus Park, formerly known as Mulberry Bend Park, Five Points Park and Paradise Park, is a public park in Chinatown, Manhattan, in New York City that was built in 1897. During the 19th century, this was the most dangerous ghetto area of immigrant New York, as portrayed in the book and film Gangs of New York.

Pass by

Vibrant Chinatown is a densely populated neighborhood that draws foodies and tourists to its many Chinese and Southeast Asian restaurants for dumplings, pork buns and hand-pulled noodles. The busy sidewalks are packed with souvenir stores, bubble tea shops, and markets selling everything from fresh and dried fish to herbs and spices. Locals hang out in leafy Columbus Park for Tai Chi, chess and mahjong.

Pass by

Canal Street is a Lower Manhattan thoroughfare where cultures collide. It's well-known for its bargain shopping scene. The street stretches from near the Hudson River to East Broadway and serves as the gateway to Chinatown, Little Italy, SoHo, and Tribeca.

Pass by

Little Italy is a neighborhood in Lower Manhattan in New York City, known for its large Italian population. It is bounded on the west by Tribeca and Soho, on the south by Chinatown, on the east by the Bowery and Lower East Side, and on the north by Nolita.

Pass by

Picturesque Nolita is a charming, upscale area with a trendy vibe. It's known for its chic shopping scene, and has plenty of designer jewelry shops, unique clothing boutiques and home-design stores. Fashionably casual crowds stroll the neighborhood and fill the popular sidewalk cafes, chic bars and trendy restaurants. On weekends, street vendors selling hand-made jewelry and artwork line Prince Street.

Excellent food experience.

Food was outstanding. Not too much walking. Only problem was weather was hot and one restaurant did not seat us inside. Would do another tour for sure but not in the heat! We did get gelato as a treat so not all bad!

Great experience! Lance was an awesome tour guide!

Lance was a super guide! He was funny, entertaining, and very knowledgeable. He let us join in on the tour at the 2nd stop when we had a delay with the subway and arrived a little late. He even brought us food from stop 1 that we missed! The walking tour of China Town & Little Italy was fun & interesting and we had very tasty food along the way! I would 100% recommend this tour. If you are debating whether to book this, or not......just book it! You will have a great time!

Best tour in NYC

Noelle was an amazing guide. Not only did we learn the history and meanings of food in the cultures, but we learned a lot about the areas we toured. I wouldn’t have wanted another tour guide! 5 green dots aren’t enough. Thank you Noelle!

The Spice of Life in Chinatown and Little Italy

We had a great time with this food tour. Lots of food and our tour guide, Grace, was fantastic and great to work with, especially with coordinating with us when we were running a few minutes behind. The food options were very diverse and we got a wonderful peek into the tastes of Chinatown and Little Italy!

Operator response

Weather policy is harsh IMO

It was raining pretty bad the day of our tour. My spouse was not wanting to go due to the rain. I was not even able to get a voucher from them to do the tour on my next visit to nyc. Pretty bummed I wasted $200. Communication was good leading up to the tour. Communication was good until I asked for a voucher. Then no response.

Operator response

Thank you for sharing your experience, Cyril. We're glad to hear that our communication leading up to your tour was helpful. We also wanted to mention that your request is still under review by our local team, so it has not been closed. A follow up will be sent through the email address you used to contact us as soon as they have an update. Our tours operate rain or shine because they involve visits to local restaurants and businesses that remain open regardless of the weather. That said, we do review requests individually whenever possible, and we appreciate your patience while this one is being assessed. We hope you'll have the opportunity to join us on a future visit to New York. Many guests have enjoyed this tour in all kinds of weather and have shared positive feedback about the food, local stories, and overall experience. We look forward to welcoming you when the timing is right.

Disappointing and not worth it

Really disappointed with this experience. Would not recommend it to anyone. Not impressed with any of the food. We have never been on a food tour where we got told about the restaurant we were headed to and then told we weren't going there because they were too busy. Seemed like poor planning. At one point the guide stopped us so that we were blocking a store's entrance. Very awkward and uncomfortable. I appreciated that we were able to sit in the pizza restaurant, but it was uncomfortable when the guide brought in food from another place to eat there. The price was too high for a so-so experience.

Operator response

We appreciate you taking the time to share your perspective. Our tours are thoughtfully curated to showcase the best of the local food scene through a carefully selected mix of stops and stories that reflect the character of each neighborhood. While occasional adjustments can be necessary, we appreciate you sharing how these moments came across to you as we continue to refine the experience for future guests. Our guests have often shared that they enjoy the variety of tastings and the local insights our guides provide, which makes feedback like yours especially valuable. Thank you again for taking the time to share your thoughts. We hope you'll consider joining us again in the future so we can provide the experience that so many of our guests have come to enjoy.

Great little tasting tour...

Great little tasting tour of Lil Italy and Chinatown with some amazing bites and a quick history lesson. Hannah managed to make it a great experience, despite the New York rain.

A great way to explore NYC neighborhoods!

Grace was an informed and engaging guide on our walking tour of Chinatown and Little Italy. We learned about the history of both neighborhoods as well as the history of the delicious dishes we tried. We benefited from her 4-years of experience with Secret Food Tours when we found one of our stops unusually crowded and she quickly flexed to another, equally good location, so that we didn’t miss out. A fun (and filling!) 3-hours in two historic NYC neighborhoods.
