120 min

Don’t follow the herd. Forget green curry and pad Thai, that's central Thai fare. Hop on board our private songthaew truck for four hours of feasting. Hit up the street eats and fresh markets across the city gorging on 15+ Northern Thai tastings. Many are unaware that this used to be the Lanna Kingdom well before it was part of Thailand and its food influences come from neighbouring Myanmar, China and beyond. We don't want to spoil the surprise, but some drool-worthy highlights include the zingy nam ngiaw noodles, the meaty larb salads, the sizzling lemongrass sai oua sausages and piquant nam prik relishes among many more lip-smackingly good tastings at places you'd struggle to find alone.

60 min

The tour concludes at the local Wararot Market along the Ping River. Enjoy local hospitality and meet new friends along the way. End the tour armed with the knowledge you'll need to continue eating street food across Thailand.

Great adventure eating!

Moui was our amazing guide. She shared tons of information along the way. Historical, culinary and fun facts! She always had something fascinating to tell us. We had so many amazing food tastings that we had to skip the last two stops and go right to dessert! Everyone was full to bursting! It was a good problem to have. We had a nice red taxi bus to take us between all the stops. It was raining but we didn’t really get wet. Overall we loved this tour and would even do it again if they had a second different option. We do food tours in every country. This was great!

Highlight of our trip to Thailand and changed how we saw the local food scene.

Cannot recommend enough- a wonderful evening we will remember for a long time! Local food, local people, local history… we tried food I would walk past in the market and while some of it was a little more unusual it was all amazing and everyone had a ball. So nice to get out of the tourist spots and understand just how passionate people are here about food and how it is integral to identity. Thank you for an absolute highlight!

A Must-Do Food Tour in Chiang Mai

Moui was an excellent guide! She was incredibly knowledgeable about the food, the local culture, and the history of the region, which made the experience even more enjoyable. She went above and beyond to make sure everyone was satisfied at every stop, always offering additional food if anyone wanted more. The food throughout the tour was outstanding. We visited six different locations and sampled more than 15–20 different dishes, giving us a fantastic taste of authentic Northern Thai cuisine. Come hungry—you definitely won’t leave this tour hungry! I highly recommend this experience, especially if you’re looking for a fun, delicious, and informative way to explore Chiang Mai.

Chiang Mai food tour

Great experience all around but in terms of quantity it felt a bit short for me vs the price charged, compared to some other food tour with the same company, especially when you know the price of street food in Thailand. Our guide was very kind and shared lots of interesting knowledge with us.

Must do food tour

A fantastic evening with lots of tastings and a culinary tour of Northern Thai food. As well as a deep dive into spices and flavour profiles, the tour gives you a food history of Thailand. So many delicious items to taste and such a knowledgeable tour guide, this is one of the best food tours I’ve ever done. Totally recommended!!

Amazing food experience

This is a brilliant tour, and the small group size makes it very personal. Moui was our guide and she was full of information and interesting facts. You hop around in the Rot Daeng to 5 or 6 stops and at each one try something different. You need to skip lunch and come hungry! You try loads of food you wouldn’t ever think of if you weren’t introduced to it by an expert - it might surprise you but no Khao Soi on this tour - it’s all more adventurous and interesting than that (and i love Khao Soi, but this takes it up a level)! Highly recommend it. Only regret is leaving the next day and not having chance to revisit some of the places we went.
