The first thing to say is that Niagara Falls is a pretty spectacular place. Nature has outdone herself here and the power and majesty of the falls is well worth seeing. It is simply gorgeous and awe-inspiring. The tour itself was borderline ANNOYING. All we wanted was to be able to get on the Maid of the Mist boat and travel near the falls, but noooooo! Instead, we were included in a tour group of about 18 (slow) people who all trudged around the falls park for nearly an hour (in the heat), listening to a tour guide recite "fun" facts about the park before we could even get on the boat. Most of what he talked about I could read in a book for myself (yeah, I know, a lot of people don't read anymore) and the things I actually might want to know about the falls (how they were formed, how long ago, etc) he didn't cover. The guide did his best and knew what he knew, but this was NOT what I thought I was buying. They would probably do better to let people get on the boats FIRST, see the falls FIRST, and then, afterward, if people still had questions, etc. the guide could march them around the park. Just a thought. Also, unfortunately for us, we were herded onto the boat with a school or camp group of about 100 middle school kids who were on some kind of field trip. They surged on to the boat ahead of us and then grabbed all the prime viewing spots along the boat railings. For some (naive) reason I thought our tickets were purchasing us at least a decent view of the falls. BUYER BEWARE. You're on a boat that accommodates SIX HUNDRED other people. That means long lines getting on and long lines getting off. At least they give you the plastic poncho for free. Oh, and the total time you have on the water near the falls is probably about 10 or 15 minutes max. Hence why they march you around the park for an hour beforehand ... so they can justify what they're charging for the tickets, which was about $118 for two adults in our case. My recommendation would be: go to the park (entrance is free!) and just buy a simple ticket for the boat alone, if that's possible. Don't bother with the tours as they don't add much of ANYTHING to your experience of the falls. ALSO: There's a beautiful, free, 5-minute fireworks show over the river at the falls every night at 10p, courtesy of Canada. At night they light up the American falls with LED lights from the other side of the river. Get to the viewing places early as there's always a big crowd for these shows.
This is a scam - avoid!! You will save approximately $50 per ticket if you buy your tickets for Maid of the Mist directly at the park. You do not need a tour guide to get you there. Avoid this and save money!! We completely felt like we were scammed.
Below expectations…only the 20 min boat experience worths...the rest was just waste of time...would not recommend
The weather impeded the experience so we didnt get to go out on the Falls from the NY side of the Falls.
Powerful and amazing ! A must see and experience
This is a scam. There is no tour, just bathroom breaks and stupid jokes. Don't waste your time.
This is a scam. It was a “tour” of excessive bathroom breaks and bad jokes. Don’t waste your time or money
Well worth the money and the text message prior to the appointment time with full instructions was wonderful!
You should be able to walk pretty fast and around 4 city blocks with brief intervals for instructions and history of areas that you will walk through.
We had a great experience! Sam, our tour guide, was informative and funny. The boat ride was a bucket list experience that didn’t disappoint. I loved every minute of it. Be aware there is currently construction at the observation tower so you cannot currently go out on the deck beyond the elevators.
