You’ll journey through Danish identity across five unique stops, moving from traditional smørrebrød to vibrant street food, modern Nordic comfort, and ending with the iconic Danish pastry. Each stop tells a chapter of Denmark’s story, connecting history, innovation, and everyday life into a cohesive culinary narrative. The tour takes you through two of Copenhagen’s most captivating neighbourhoods. You’ll start in Nyhavn, the city’s historic harbourfront, once filled with sailors, merchants, and trading ships, now a clean, design-driven hub. Then you’ll cross the bridge into Christianshavn, often called Copenhagen’s Mini-Amsterdam, with its canals, colorful houses, historic warehouses, houseboats, and vibrant cafés and bakeries that capture authentic everyday Danish life.

Set inside the Royal Danish Playhouse, you will enjoy chef Adam Aamanns’ modern take on smørrebrød: Denmark’s iconic open-faced rye sandwiches. You’ll savor two mini pieces, paired with wine (afternoon only) or sparkling water.
At this stop, located inside Broens Street Food, you’ll savor tacos made with traditional corn tortillas and carefully crafted fillings: slow-cooked pork, braised beef, or seasonal vegetables, combining authentic Mexican flavors with the precision, quality, and creativity of New Nordic cuisine.
The world’s first restaurant devoted entirely to porridge, you’ll taste a modern Nordic twist on this humble dish with their red lentil daal porridge, made with coconut milk, spices, fresh herbs, cherry tomatoes, salted almonds and more, for a flavorful, globally inspired experience.
You’ll taste a classic Danish Ristet Hotdog, featuring a red sausage in a soft bun with remoulade, mustard, ketchup, pickles, and onions, a beloved street food that dates back to the 1920s and Copenhagen’s pølsevogn tradition.
At one of Copenhagen’s most renowned family-owned bakeries, founded in 1963, you’ll enjoy a classic Scandinavian cardamom bun: soft, buttery, and lightly spiced, subtly sweet with citrus and floral notes, finished with syrup and pearl sugar, showcasing the bakery’s long tradition of Nordic craftsmanship.

We had a wonderful time on this walking food tour. The five tastings were all unique, blending traditional Danish flavours with influences from around the world. The relaxed pace gave us plenty of time to explore, from the Opera House to Christianshavn, including local neighbourhoods as well as the main tourist areas. Our group of just six people made the experience feel personal, and Sonia was a fantastic guide—friendly, knowledgeable, and passionate about Copenhagen.

This walking food tour was fantastic. Each stop was completely different from the last, giving us a real sense of the range of Danish specialties as well as some great modern fusions — it never felt repetitive, and by the end we’d built a genuine picture of the local food scene. Our guide Sonia made the whole experience. She was incredibly knowledgeable, offering great background on the history and stories behind each dish, but she also went beyond the tour itself — giving us tons of personal recommendations for other spots to check out in each neighborhood we walked through. If you’re visiting Copenhagen and want to eat well while actually learning something, do this tour. Ask for Sonia if you can!

Sonia was fantastic. Very knowledgeable, helpful, flexible and accommodating. She took us to 5 wonderful places, all which were outstanding. Amount of food was just right and a great balance of fine dining and street food, new Danish and traditional. Highly recommend!
