Schloss Neuschwanstein, often known as Germany’s "Cinderella castle," was actually the inspiration for a different Disney story, the ‘Sleeping Beauty’ castle at Disneyland. The entrance fee to the castle is not included (you can pay on the day), but by booking this tour in advance, you’ll receive skip-the-line access to Neuschwanstein so you won’t waste time standing in the ticket queue. The entrance fee to the castle is not included (you can pay on the day), but by booking this tour in advance, you’ll receive skip-the-line access to Neuschwanstein so you won’t waste time standing in the ticket queue. Once inside the enchanting structure, take a tour with a guide, who shares fascinating stories about the reclusive Bavarian king who commissioned a new residence in the 19th century. Thought to be mad, King Ludwig II desired a fantasy castle built in the mountains, an obsessive feat that was still incomplete when he died. Visit the best vantage points for views and photo ops of the castle’s towers, interiors and surrounding scenery such as the lake, gorge and equally beautiful Hohenschwangau Castle.

Can't recommend it enough! Fairytale castle.

If you get the chance, see Neuschwanstein. Not only is the castle straight out of a fairytale (both inside and out), but the surrounding area is beyond stunning. When we turned the corner to look out over the lake all of our jaws dropped. I'd highly recommend booking a tour for the inside of the castle as it is like nothing I've ever seen - the level of detailed art, well-preserved wood/furniture/mosaics/etc., and general splendor is beyond belief. The tour groups are pretty large, so know that you will be in each room with quite a few people - I get somewhat claustrophobic in large crowds so I stayed near the back which worked well for me. For mobility: If you take the general bus route up, there is a walk along a path with some elevation to get to the castle. If you need mobility support look for ways to get up to the higher landing and take a card with your guide.

Great way to spend a day!

Can you go on your own, of course. Will you know the stories and lore, probably not. And you don’t want to hear your dad tell the stories. Instead book here! Very organized and takes the worry out of it all. Great pace to the day. Charlie was a fantastic guide and host for the day.

We had a great day on our tour visiting Neuschwanstein Castle. The Castle is stunning! Well worth the additional admission fee to go inside! Charlie our tour guide was fantastic, so knowledgeable of the local area and knew all his history not just about the Castle and Munich but also about the Bavarian Royal family. We highly recommend this tour and if you are lucky enough to get Charlie as your guide you are sure to be in for a history lesson too!

Neuschwanstein Castle from Munich

We recently took the Radius Tours Neuschwanstein Castle tour from Munich with Werner as our guide, and we had a very good experience. Werner was very well informed about Neuschwanstein Castle, King Ludwig II, and the surrounding area. During the trip to and from the castle, he shared helpful information about the region, which made the travel time more interesting and gave us better context before arriving. The tour itself was organized well, and Werner provided an informative and enjoyable experience. His knowledge of the castle and the history behind King Ludwig added a lot to the visit. We appreciated the tour and would recommend Radius Tours and Werner to anyone interested in visiting Neuschwanstein Castle from Munich.
