Itinerary
The National Museum of Anthropology contains the world's largest collection of ancient Mexican art and also has ethnographic exhibits about Mexico's present-day indigenous groups. Exhibited on two large floors, these displays show ancient human remains and art objects. Among its outstanding exhibits are the “Group of Figures” from the Olmec culture and the 22-ton Aztec “Sun Stone,” representing the history of the world.
Chapultepec Castle was originally created as a rest home for governors, it has been the headquarters of Colegio Militar, where the famous battle against the USA army was fought and was inaugurated as a museum in 1944. Now it serves as a museum and is the only castle in Latin America.

We had an absolutely wonderful time on our tour in Mexico City with Sal as our guide. From the moment we met him, he was friendly, professional, and incredibly knowledgeable. His deep understanding of Mexican history, culture, and art brought every site to life, and his explanations were detailed, engaging, and easy to follow. Although our original plan included a visit to Chapultepec Castle, it was unexpectedly closed. Rather than letting that disappoint the day, Sal quickly adapted the itinerary and took us to the fascinating Museo Soumaya instead. We are so glad he did! The museum was full of remarkable artwork and exhibits, and Sal’s insightful commentary helped us appreciate pieces we might otherwise have overlooked. As vegetarians, we especially appreciated Sal’s thoughtfulness in helping us navigate meal options and recommending suitable dishes. It made the experience much more enjoyable and stress-free. What stood out most was Sal’s flexibility, patience, and genuine desire to ensure we had a memorable experience. He was always willing to answer questions, share local insights, and go the extra mile to make the tour special. We learned a great deal, saw wonderful places, including the Anthropology Museum, which is a must and thoroughly enjoyed our day. We would highly recommend Sal to anyone visiting Mexico City who wants an informative, enjoyable, and personalized tour experience.
Amazing experience! Do not do visit this museum without a tour! Tour guide was very informative and shares a lot of information with us.
We did our tour with Sal. He was great. Very knowledgeable and very personable all at the same time. Highly recommend him.

An unforgettable day exploring Mexico City’s history with Mario and Roberto! We visited the incredible pyramids of Teotihuacan, walked through the beautiful Chapultepec Castle, and ended at the fascinating Museo Nacional de Antropología. Honestly, it wouldn’t have been the same without our guide Mario and driver Roberto. Mario was extremely knowledgeable and brought every site to life with stories, history, and details we would have completely missed on our own. He made everything easy to understand and engaging the entire time. Roberto was just as amazing, as he was professional, safe, and made getting around the city smooth and stress-free.
Hello Justin! Thank you so much for your wonderful review. We’re glad to hear you had such a memorable day exploring Teotihuacán, Chapultepec Castle, and the Anthropology Museum. It’s great to know that the experience felt engaging and well-paced throughout. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you again on another experience in the future. Regards, Vibe Adventures Team
If you are short on time and want to say you’ve been there done that to check this box, this tour is probably for you. Even with five hours, it felt extremely rushed. I felt like Andres was just running through all of the museum exhibits and castle, sticking to a script, with very little time to actually browse. While I’m not a “read every plaque” kind of person, this wasn’t the vibe (nor the speed) I was hoping for. As it was also my third tour (through Viator) I had very high expectations, and I left feeling like I needed to go back to both the museum and the castle.
Hello Gwendolyn, We understand that the tour may have felt rushed for you. The itinerary is designed to give a comprehensive overview within a set timeframe, which can sometimes limit the amount of exploration time. Regarding the guiding style, our intention is always to balance key explanations with time to enjoy the spaces, and we regret that this did not fully meet your expectations. We appreciate your comments, as they help us continue improving the experience for future guests. Regards, Vibe Adventures Team
Our tour guide Diana was amazing and very knowledgeable. This particular tour involves a lot of walking/standing as the museum is enormous. We were lucky to get this tour to come through as Viator isn’t reliable in connecting the tours with available tour guides.
Hello Kasey! Thank you for your feedback! We’re glad you enjoyed the experience overall. We appreciate your comments and will keep them in mind to continue improving. We hope to see you again soon. Regards, Vibe Adventures Team
Ari was very personable and knowledgeable and was happy to customize the tour to our needs. She focused on the top items to see in each of the many areas in the Anthropology Museum, which minimized our feeling of being overwhelmed.
Hello Lynne, Thank you for sharing your experience! We’re delighted to know everything met your expectations and that you had a fantastic time exploring with us. Regards, Vibe Adventures Team
We had a wonderful experience with Alberto. His knowledge of Mexican anthropology is extensive. Our understanding of Mexican history has increased significantly. Definitely time well spent
Mario was wonderful. He picked us up about hotel and drove us to the Anthropology Museum. We spent over 3 hours there with him. He is full of knowledge of Mexico’s history and Mexico City. My kids wanted to see some axolotes and he said the zoo nearby had some and entrance was free. Super flexible and gave us time for lunch and the zoo before heading to see the castle. He drove us back to our hotel. It was a perfect way to start our vacation.
Hello Mike, Thank you so much for your kind words! We’re delighted to know you had a great experience with us. We hope to welcome you again soon on another adventure. Regards, Vibe Adventures Team
