Itinerary
Your guide will greet you at your hotel or residence, before whisking you away to Mt. Pilatus.
In Lucerne, your guide will escort you to the Pilatus Bahn and begin your ascent to Mt. Pilatus. We'll make a little stop at Fraukmuntegg, where you will admire the beginning of the Swiss Alps and the cantons that formed the Swiss Confederation in 1291. Then, you will board the iconic “dragon ride” aerial cable car, where we will float in a giant glass cabin. The windowed walls provide 360 views of the Lucerne region, and many compare it to the experience of flying. Enjoy an ever-changing perspective of the Alpine landscape as historic Lucerne pulls back into focus as we approach the end of the line. The ride is a highlight of any trip to Mt. Pilatus.
Afterward, you can keep soaking up the stunning valley views from the restaurant or enjoy a leisurely hike to the summit of Mt. Pilatus. The top of this famous peak offers a bird’s eye view of historic Lucerne and panoramic vistas of the surrounding countryside. Enjoy the view platform's clean mountain air as you gaze out over an expanse of crystal-clear lakes, lush green meadows, and rolling peaks and valleys. Learn how Pilatus came to be haunted by legends of dragons and why many believe the body of Pontius Pilate was laid to rest within its foothills.
We begin our descent of the world's steepest cogwheel, which will head to Alpnachstad; take the cogwheel train, where the engine will climb the foothills of Pilatus, taking you to the end of the steepest rack railway in the world. Admire the views over the Alps from 2,073 meters high as your guide reveals each area's history, culture, and culinary delights.
Experience the Lake of Lucerne, also known as the lake of four cantons, and admire the Bürgenstock, Rigi Mountain, and Pilatus Mountain from afar cruising along the crystal clear lake. From May to October you will have the option to take the boat from Lucerne to Alpnachstad instead. Lincoln was extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. At lunch he invited my wife and I to join him and we exchanged life experiences. Amoung the best tour guides we've had over 50 tours over our travels.
Lincoln was amazing - super knowledgeable and extremely warm. The tour was well paced, we were able to cover all of the areas promised. Thanks Lincoln.
5/5. Selma was our guide, she was awesome!!

It was lovely, our tour guide lincoln was very enthusiastic and informative about the beautiful sights we were seeing.
Lincoln was a great guide, very knowledgeable and kind! I would highly recommend.
Lincoln was fantastic! He ran a tour with many moving pieces perfectly. It is truly difficult to pick our favorite part as everything was great.
I would give a 0/5 if I could. Please note this is NOT a review of the tour guide (who was fine). This a review of the company. Before arriving in Lucerne we checked the weather on Mt. Pilatus. It was supposed to be mildly cold so we planned to wear long pants, long sleeves and sweatshirts. However, a few hours before the tour was to begin we checked the weather on the mountain again and discovered it was unexpectedly snowing. We did not hear from the tour company so we tried to reach out to them. Since the snow was not expected and we did not pack snow attire for June, we were hoping the tour would be canceled. We reached out to Viator and the tour company directly but did not get a response before the tour. We waited for the tour guide to show up. She arrived from Basal dressed in light pants/top and suede loafers with no socks. She had no idea it was snowing on the mountain until we showed her the live camera footage of the snow fall. Since none of us (including the tour guide) were dressed appropriately for the tour we asked if the tour could just be shortened to the boat ride and we asked for a credit for part of the tour to be used at a later time. We felt this was extremely fair since the tour was expensive and we were not asking for a monetary reimbursement. Nor were we upset that the tour guide or tour company did not reach out before the tour to let use know it was snowing. The company should have reached out and given us a choice whether or not to precede with the tour given the unexpected snow. My husband has written Viator and the tour company several times asking for the partial credit. The company repeatedly refuses to give us a credit and has stopped responding to my husband. This is an awful way to run a business. Shameful!
Excellent day, Mary was an excellent guide. She navigated all the transportation and gave tips on the best seats for views. Lake Lucerne was beautiful and the ride to/from Mt Pilatus are a great part of the experience. Views from the top were amazing. Beautiful day in beautiful Switzerland
