Mostraumen Fjord Cruise – Operated & Guided by Locals

Description
Experience the Mostraumen Fjord Cruise on board our small, intimate vessels—each carrying fewer than 100 guests for a relaxed, spacious and personal journey. Enjoy large outdoor decks for fresh-air sightseeing and a cozy indoor lounge with panoramic windows. In our onboard kiosk, you can purchase snacks and a selection of hot and cold drinks, with and without alcohol, to enjoy along the way. Departing from central Bergen, we sail past historic landmarks before heading through the Cityfjord, Salhusfjord and Osterfjord, where steep mountains and tranquil coves create a constantly shifting landscape. The adventure reaches its highlight in the narrow Mostraumen Channel, where the captain carefully navigates between towering cliffs and cascading waterfalls. With daily departures year-round, this is the most intimate and up-close fjord experience from Bergen—perfect for travelers seeking comfort, atmosphere and unforgettable views.

Itinerary
Bryggen is one of Norway’s most iconic sights—Bergen’s postcard-famous row of colorful wooden buildings along the harbor. Travelers will pass this UNESCO-listed waterfront and see the historic architecture that has become a signature image of Bergen and Norway.
Travelers will pass the iconic Nordhordland Bridge, a striking combination of suspension bridge and floating bridge spanning the fjord north of Bergen. Known for its unique engineering and dramatic setting, the bridge is a recognizable landmark and an impressive sight when entering the fjord landscape.
Travelers will cruise through the scenic Osterfjord, a narrow fjord surrounded by steep mountains, waterfalls, and untouched nature. The fjord offers classic Norwegian scenery and a calm, dramatic atmosphere as the journey continues deeper into the fjord landscape.
Mostraumen is where the fjord trip really comes alive. The landscape closes in, the mountains feel suddenly much higher, and the waterway tightens into a narrow passage shaped by strong tidal currents. On the way through, you’ll glide past steep rock walls and spot waterfalls dropping straight into the fjord—often close enough that you’ll want your camera ready. It’s a short stretch, but it’s the part most people remember from the day.

- This tour will go in rain or shine. In the winter months, it can happen that the sea freezes in the innermost part of the fjord where there is a lot of fresh water mixed with the sea water, brackish water. If there is so much ice that there is no safe passage for boats, the captain will then choose an alternative route in this area. This is beyond our control and it does not give grounds for claiming a refund for the trip. We will always do our best to give our customers great experiences, even on days when the forces of nature are not easy to handle.

Easy to get to from ship (15 minute walk) and very enjoyable trip down and back the fjord. Beautiful scenery from start to finish. We were so fortunate to have the best of weather.
My first experience of the Fjords and loved it. Great sights. We were lucky with great weather too, so I stayed on the top deck. One minor inconvenience: I couldn't always hear the guide clearly over the engine noise.
Very good. Nice experience. ..
Very nice outing, superb landscape, do not miss it.
It would have been great if you just cleaned the windows. Could barely see out.
The tour was very nice and provided a really good impression of the fjords; however, one should dress warmly. We were there in July and had 18 C, it was still fresh around the ears.
Dress warmly, it is fresh on deck during the evening tour, photo equipment, and above all enjoy and let it sink in
Truly a special experience to see and experience the fjords. Despite some rain, we had a great experience. We did the cruise at the end of the day and it was a great way to end our day in Bergen. Would highly recommend this company.
Carolina was wonderful. Bubbly and very informative. Always smiling.
