It was a 2 hour walking tour. Our guide spoke English and shared the history of Montpelier. I would recommend a 3 to 4 hour tour.
Patrice is a an attentive, highly informative, and friendly guide who grew up in Montpellier, lived many years in the USA, and fairly recently returned to his home town. He knows the city intimately and juxtaposes the present with what things were like growing up. He easily adjusts the pace to those of the visitors. His tour added immensely to our appreciation of the area. He also kindly emailed us info about specific stores, restaurants, and regional sites.
We greatly enjoyed our introduction to Montpellier with our guide Ceyda. She is very knowledgeable about the city and its history, and very engaging. Worth mentioning, her English is impeccable. In particular, she gave us a number of recommendations for local restaurants, all of which worked out wonderfully. We also appreciated that it was a private tour just for us. This is a great tour and we definitely recommend Ceyda as a guide.
Our guide, Patrice, was excellent. We saw so many wonderful sites and he was so knowledgeable about the history of the area. I really felt like we saw so much of the city and now we can revisit some of those places on our own. A perfect way for a newcomer to see the city.
