The Monterey Bay is situated along the California coast, to the south of the major cities of San Francisco and San Jose. At the north end of the bay lies Santa Cruz, while at the southern tip of the Monterey Peninsula, you'll find Monterey.
Cannery Row, located in the New Monterey section of Monterey along the waterfront, was once home to thriving sardine canning factories. Today, Cannery Row has transformed into a popular tourist destination, featuring numerous restaurants and shops. As you drive through this historic district, you'll be heading towards the renowned Monterey Bay Aquarium, which is situated by the beautiful Monterey Bay. This is the designated stopping point for the Monterey segment of the tour. Here, travelers will have a generous 2-hour window of free time to explore several attractions, including the Monterey Bay Aquarium, Cannery Row, various restaurants, and stores. This ample time allows travelers to leisurely enjoy lunch, soak in the sights, and then proceed to the next destinations of 17-Mile Drive and Carmel. The 17-Mile Drive is a picturesque loop that winds through the private Pebble Beach community on the Monterey Peninsula. Along the way, travelers will be treated to stunning coastal vistas featuring pristine coves and sandy beaches. While the drive itself doesn't require much time, there are numerous designated stops where you can capture breathtaking photos. It's important to note that this attraction may be temporarily closed during certain annual events, including the PGA Tour in February and the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance car show in August.
This bustling wildlife hub is teeming with a vibrant population of birds, harbor seals, and noisy sea lions. Bird Rock, once buried under 4 to 5 feet of pelican and cormorant guano until 1930, was cleared for use as fertilizer. Subsequently, sea lions have claimed this cleared perch as their sunbathing spot, and they've been enjoying it ever since.
Standing proudly on a granite hillside, the Lone Cypress is a remarkable Monterey Cypress tree. This iconic tree holds the distinction of being one of the most photographed trees in all of North America. It stands sentinel between two renowned golf courses, the Cypress Point Club and the Pebble Beach Golf Links, both of which are among the world's most famous. The Lone Cypress is estimated to be around 250 years old and bears the scars of past fires. To ensure its stability, it has been anchored in place with cables for the past six decades. Travelers will have the opportunity to disembark from the bus at this spot, offering them an excellent chance to capture memorable photographs of this enduring natural wonder.
Pebble Beach Golf Links is internationally renowned as one of the most stunning golf courses globally, as it gracefully embraces the rugged coastline and offers expansive vistas of Carmel Bay, which opens up to the vast Pacific Ocean. This prestigious course hosts annual events by the PGA Tour and PGA Tour Champions. It's a nice way to discover Monterey and Carmel. The coast drive is very nice and the tour guide we had was very knowledgeable and passionate about wildlife.
Wonderful trip. A day long adventure of sight seeing and photo opportunities along the beautiful Northern Californian Coast. From San Francisco to Carmel and land marks along the way. Excellent time, hosted by a truly experienced Tour Guide Don M. A native bay area local, whose knowledge both environmental and historical of California made the trip both enlightening and exciting. Big 5 stars for Don. Great service.
Don, our tour guide, a local native Northern Californian, was great. Friendly, so knowledgeable regarding SF and California, both Environmentally and Historically. Created a wonderful experience from San Francisco to Carmel with fun stops along the journey to capture memorable shots of the beautiful coastline and towns. Thoroughly enjoyable adventure.
Very laid back but beautiful scenic tour. Sea lions, otters, chipmunks and deer were plentiful. Cristin was very knowledgeable.
Thank you for your kind review! We’re glad you enjoyed the scenic tour and wildlife, and we’ll share your feedback with Cristin.
Cracked glass at front very hazardous. Guide was rude to one of member in group. Sufficient time given in every stop.
Thank you for your feedback. We’re sorry to hear about your experience and will review this with our team to improve.
I was travelling solo on this trip that too from a different country first time in US. The environment was very hostile and the trip is for those who are looking for options with less hassle of driving or taking trains or subways. We started from SFO stopped at some places for snacks and restrooms. We reached Monterey around 11:30 AM we stayed in Monterey for about two hours then we head over to the 17 mile drive which is fun to watch if you are beaches lover. The entire trip is around the Bay Area so you would get the feel of being around Bay pretty much everywhere.
Thank you for your review! We’re glad you enjoyed the Bay Area scenery and the convenience of the tour. Hope to see you again soon!
Cristin is a wonderful tour guide. Very knowledgeable and friendly. Transportation is nice with outlets on every seat to charge cell phones. Saw so many wonderful places, definitely worth it.

It was a long drive back and i had a plane to catch. The timing says 11 hrs but its actually 12 hrs. Incorrect timing listed in the tour. They made a stop at Pacifica at the request of another passanger. I suddendly decided to get down because it is closer to the airport. Union square is further away. Since i decided that in a hurry i forgot to tip the tour guide. Itsca older pady with short hair and a foreign accent. The tour agent then blocked my way and tapped at the paper and said we are service people and we need to be tipped. I completely agree with that. I am part of the tipping culture. I was running late for my flight and had a long day and i think it slipped my mind. But i immediately tipped her cash. The point is she could have reminded me in a nice way. Her face almost became demonic. “People will forget what u said but they will not forget how you made them feel”. She continued to be hostile towards me even after i tipped her cash. Not sure why this hatred?
Thank you for your feedback. We’re sorry for your experience and appreciate you sharing this with us. We will review this with our team to ensure a more professional guest experience moving forward.
