Monstour: A Self-Guided Audio Tour of Danish Folk Legends

Description
The legendary creatures of Danish folklore are more than just the Little Mermaid immortalised by H. C. Andersen. The Danish bestiary also includes such monsters as man-eating trolls, dragons who hoard treasures and fight against bulls, the heraldic wild men depicted on the royal coat of arms and the strange creature known as the ”Sea Bishop”. Even the centre of Copenhagen that draws the most tourists and traffic is haunted by mythical beasts who are seen in statues, reliefs and artwork on buildings. Yet many of these monsters remain unknown to most visitors. You can, however, now fill this gap in your folkloric knowledge with this self-guided GPS audio tour. Download the HidDenmark Monstour VoiceMap unto your Smartphone. It will guide you on a journey from the Tivoli amusement park over the Copenhagen Stock Exchange to the canals, while narrating how weird tales of strange and terrible beings have shaped the capitol of the country.

This is a very fun experience! The tour is informative and the audios automatically play when you have reached another stop. Even if you take a wrong turn the app steers you back on track. We really enjoyed this experience. All in all it took us 1.5 hrs walking a a slower pace and only stopping occasionally at certain stops for some extra time to wander. Would definitely recommended to anyone visiting the area. We saw parts of Central Copenhagen that we hadn’t explored so far on our trip.
Great sampling of a focused experience. Interesting anecdotes and references opened the possibility for more research.
This is a fun way to do a walking tour of Copenhagen. The narrative was interesting and entertaining. We enjoyed how it integrated gps technology so that the narrator started when we arrived at the next stop. No need to hit pause and restart-just walk at your own pace.
We saw places we would never have found by ourselves and enjoyed the stories. This tour was one of the best experiences we had in Copenhagen.
Two questions should be asked about the "Monstour tour:" Is it good, and is it worth the money? These two questions, which are usually inseparable, get opposite answers in this case due to the relatively low price. In fact, the tour offers very little of what it promised (Danish Folk Legends), with too many pauses in between the statues (many of them are already unavailable or damaged). However, it can help you to get acknowledged with a bit of the history and city's geography. So, the tour can be helpful if it is your first day in Copenhagen.
Hi there, I'm sorry that the content wasn't as informative as you hoped. We will review the tour content and see where updates and improvements may be needed. This was a fun and interesting way to see some major sites in Copenhagen as well as some details you might miss, while learning about Danish folklore and history.
My family really enjoyed to tour. Good for our older children. The navigation instructions were helpful as well.
I loved and can not say enough great things about this tour. It was full of off beat statues, locations and information. It was unlike any other self guided or group tour I took on my trip. If you like sites that are not usually visited this tour is for you.
the narrator was very clear with the directions and had a kind intonation. the recording also gave us as much time to look at the places as we wanted, continuing the guide only after we started moving again, which provided a chill experience! the stories shared were very interesting and fun to learn about! we had a great time walking around the streets of copenhagen, discovering the many hidden gems with the guide!!
A good way to get closer to Danish legends while walking around Copenhagen. We visited modern neighborhoods that we would not have seen without this treasure hunt.
