Itinerary
You will partake in a weather check an hour before the departure flight time. Flights are subject to weather conditions, if the weather is suitable you will be picked up from your hotel approximately 5-minutes after the call. You can opt to self-drive to the hangar as well if you’d like. Once checked in at the office you will depart on one of the aircrafts where everyone gets a window seat. The flight is a 40-minute scenic flight with majestic views of the mountains, lakes and fiords of the Fiordland National Park.
Upon reaching Milford Sound you will be taken to meet the boat cruise, a two hour full length cruise of Milford Sound. If you order our Picnic Lunch option you will be given this as you board the boat.
Upon completion of the cruise you will be flown back to Queenstown on a different flight path to the way in.

Please call Milford Sound Scenic Flight for the final weather check 1hr 30mins before the departure time you have booked for. Hotel pick-up commences from 5mins after the weather check time for your flight. Please check email confirmation from operator stating closest pickup location and time. If you are staying at a location not listed or wish to self drive out to their Base, please contact Milford Sound Scenic Flights directly, and they will advise you the best option available for you.

- Infants are required to sit on an adult’s lap
- Suitable for all physical fitness levels
- You will need to call 1hr 30mins before the departure time you have booked for. If the weather is suitable you will be picked up from your hotel approximately 5 minutes after the call.
- Infants are classed as 11kgs or under. If they are over this weight, they will be classed as a child due to infant seatbelt weight limit restrictions. They will have to be charged a child price on the day if weights and are over the 11kg limit.
- Mitre Peak Cruises are booked subject to availability. On occasion you may be booked onto an alternative cruise company, we will notify you of this when you check in for your experience with us
- Not recommended for pregnant travellers 36 weeks or more into their pregnancy

We originally booked the "take a bus to Milford" trip, but were convinced by fellow travelers to switch to the plane ride, and oh my, was that good advice. Not only is it faster, but flying through the mountains is an amazing experience. My wife and I are both private pilots, so it was even more enjoyable for us. I was convinced that would be the highlight of the trip, until we reached the Sound. Taking a boat through the Sound, seeing the sheer volcanic cliffs dropping into the water, glimpsing the vast Pacific to the west, and then getting to fly home again was a day we won't soon forget.
It was the second time I took scenic flights to Milford Sound from Queenstown. The flight was stable and safe and the view was breathtaking. Tge pilots were very friendly and helpful. The overall experience was super!
Have done Milford sound a number of times this was definitely the easiest. A great view from the plane as well.

I can’t say enough good things. The process was easy and the staff was friendly. Our pilot was very nice and friendly as well. The flight not only saves time but it is incredible to sight see on the way to the boat.
Top 10 lifetime experience for sure. From the hotel pickup to the very smooth flight with out of this world views to the cruise thru the fjord. This is a must do experience. It is very expensive - but sooo worth it if you can afford it!
Loved it totally.What a close up and personal experience. Totally stunning day out. To dod fly/cruise fly all up about 4 hrs or so was amazing.Up in the air great pilot,Kurt I think was in charge,so relaxed and totally professional. Would rather do this than bus/cruise/fly which is 5 hrs bus each way. Excellent excursion.

Absolutely worth it. It saved us from a long bus ride, gave us more time to enjoy Milford Sound, and let us stay there most of the day while also doing the cruise. The views and sightseeing from the plane were really special and made the whole experience even better. Seeing what many call the eighth wonder of the world from both the air and the water was unforgettable. Highly recommend.

Loved this excursion! This is a wonderful way to view the mountains and to avoid a long ride to Milford Sound and back from Queenstown. The air operator, Milford Air, was super professional. Our pilot, Tom, was the best! He narrated the trip to and from, and is so familiar with the territory. The boat ride was great, but the air trip was the winner! Highly recommend!
