Here we will start the tour! In one of Milan's most elegant historic squares, where finance, architecture and modern lifestyles meet. Surrounded by impressive 19th century buildings and former banking headquarters, Piazza Cordusio represents the city transformation into Italy's economic capital. Just steps away from the Duomo and the luxury shopping district, this area blends heritage with contemporary energy. It's the perfect setting to taste local flavors while understanding how Milan evolved from medieval trade hub to global business center.
Close to here we will make a food stop in one of the oldest and most historically layered corners of Milan. Piazza San Sepolcro reveals the city's Roman origins and medieval soul, hidden behind the bustling main streets. Close to the ancient Church of San Sepolcro, built over the Roman Forum, this area connects visitors directly yo Milan's 2000- year history. While enjoying a local speciality, you will discover how deeply rooted the city's identity truly is.
Here we will make another stop! In Milan oldest neighborhood, the charming Cinque Vie District. This maze of narrow streets once formed the heart of the Roman city and today blends artisan workshops, antique dealers and refined boutiques. It is an intimate and authentic side of Milan, far from the main tourist paths. Tasting traditional products here means experiencing the city where craftmanship, creativity and historic coexist.
Here last stop and tour ends. Near the impressive Colonne di San Lorenzo, one of the most striking Roman remains in Milan. These ancient columns, dating back the 2nd Century, stand in front of the Basilica di San Lorenzo as reminder of the city's roman past. My family actually did 4 tours with FollowMi Around and had the pleasure of meeting the owner Beatrice Odell. I will start out by saying she spent a lot of time with me emailing back and forth trying to figure out what of her many tours made sense for my family before I even got to Milan.She asked me about my family and what was important to us and since all of the tours were private she was able to customize the tours to include and exclude different things. We did the private Duomo rooftop tour with Beatrice -she is clearly passionate about her company and bringing the best and unique experiences to people coming to her city. She guided us around the rooftop pointing out little things and taking pictures for us. We also did a Food tour with her company and we had an amazing tour guide Marco. He took us to 4 places - there was 5 of us -3 young men in their 20’s, myself and my husband - there was plenty of food to keep the boys very happy. We visited a great sandwich shop I would never find- It was on a side street with a non de script store front, we then sampled delicious pizza and wine, followed by unique pastries and of course finished with gelato. On our walk to the different establishments - Marco was telling us all about what we were seeing in Milan. He was very personable and felt very comfortable with him. On our last night we did a tour of the canal area -Navigli with Marco again. Very interesting would never know there was a canal area in Milan. We visited two establishments for drinks and appetizers. A great wine bar with delicious wines and yummy bites. We then went to a family establishment for cocktails and snacks - We ended with Marco dropping us at a restaurant that Beatrice had recommended. I have booked many trips using different tour companies I felt I wanted to write this review because Beatrice was amazing from start to finish - If you are visiting Milan you should reach out to her for unique experiences that will not disappoint.
Thank you Francesco and Michelle so much for a lovely evening, we had a great time. It was really interesting learning about the city and region and the 4 food stops were perfect, the saffron risotto was our favourite. Thanks to all the lovely cafe and restaurant owners too, their food is amazing. We had a nice cocktail by the canals afterwards, great suggestion to cool down in the heat. Many thanks again, would recommend as a great way to see parts of the city you might miss and taste great local food, 5 stars!
Our guide Marco went out of his way to make this experience memorable. I was grateful to him for providing the assistance for me to navigating the Milan metro system to reach our central meeting point. The food & venue selections on this tour were amazing. Small tucked away family businesses who provided delicious authentic food, that was enjoyed by all the group. Marco also pointed out & provided commentary on various buildings as we passed. His knowledge of the city and his recommendations of places to shop & dine were greatly appreciated by all.
