Itinerary
Discover Milan on a slow tram ride through the city center, starting in Piazzale Cadorna, under the famous "Needle-and-Thread" monument. The thread wrapped around a needle also "paraphrased" the city emblem of a snake coiled around a sword. According to the City of Milan, it is also meant as a tribute to Milan's influence in the fashion industry and the three thread colours (red, green, yellow) represent the lines of the Milan Metro.
Visit Sforza Castle, where your guide will tell you the history of the Ducal residence and one of the largest citadels in Europe. Located at the margins of Sempione Park, the castle provides panoramic views of the Arch of Peace, Milan’s commemorative arch, built by Luigi Cagnola at the request of Napoleon.
Traveling on Line No. 1, cross the city center to see the historic streetcars of the 1930s. Pass through the Brera district en route to Cordusio, the heart of Milan’s Financial District. Then, take a walking tour of the city center to see the imposing Duomo (Cathedral), covered Galleria Vittorio Emanuele, and La Scala Opera House. Back on Tram No. 1, ride through the Fashion District. Pass the consulate buildings of the Diplomatic Quarters, and admire the monuments of Piazza della Repubblica. The tour ends on Corso Buenos Aires, one of Milan’s main shopping avenues, making for a perfect drop off to enjoy some free time to shop!

I love photography, sitting at the back of the tram, I was able to take lots of photos and admire places that I could not see otherwise. The very experienced guide described all the monuments, narrated the history of famous palaces and much more... I advise couples to go in the evening, towards sunset.
We had a lovely time on this tour. It was at a leisurely pace and Sara understood and knew her topics and was able to give us great background on everything we saw and asked her. We really got an opportunity to get a sense of Milan, its people, and wonderful culture.
Hi! Thank you so much for sharing your experience. We hope to be able to share with you another experience like this in the future! Grazie e Arrivederci! Your Travel Diary
The title of the trip is extremely misleading. It is a 95% walking tour with 2 short rides on a tram to get you from the Duomo to Brera District and back. It is not a tour of Milan by Historic Tram. Our tour guide, while pleasant, seemed distant and not really interested in the tour. We did not go the the castle as advertised. Really disappointed, especially for what the cost was.
Hello Susan, let me tell you that this time we are very disappointed about your review! Do you know why? During the tour everything was very good, you looked happy, enjoying every single spot you visited with Fabrizio which was very into this tour. Being the only passengers for the tour you got a private tour and you visit places that usually are not includedin this specific tour like Brera and Fashion discrict ( that is why you walked a lot ), I don't know why you didn't complain during the tour so we could have done something in order to make you happy..
Una esperienza da ricordare! Really original trip to Milan made by a historic tram, perfectly restored with the addition of straps on the original wooden seats. Guide prepared and many things learned even from a Milanese DOC of a few years on his shoulders...
Your Travel Diary Team
Ideal to see and know the essentials. Accompanied by a very nice Italian guide who was bad for us, because had asked for a tour in French .... Because out of 6 we were 1 to understand English And in the light of the budget the excursions to Milan... But I recommend the excursion with our guide
