It was truly an incredible and unique experience that I will forever cherish. I booked this trip with one of my best friends. We didn’t have crazy expectations, but we left impressed by how informative, friendly, organized, and well-prepared our tour guides were (especially Alan!). We booked the 9AM tour which was perfect, as you don’t have to worry about traffic on the way to Xochimilco. It was a total of 6 visitors (including my friend and me) which allowed for a very intimate trip, and allowed you to get to know the other visitors as well as speak with the guides. The Xochimilco canals at this time are perfect! Not noisy, very calm, and you get to enjoy your ride peacefully. I do recommend eating breakfast before arriving, as you will have the option to drink some traditional mezcal and tequila on the 15-20 min ride to the island from the dock. I highly recommend you participate in the drinking games as it’s a good way to taste some traditional Mexican drinks and learn about the history of mezcal and tequila. Not only do you get the opportunity to visit an exclusive location with a rich history, but you have people from the community teaching you about the Xochimilco location, its ecological history and diversity, as well as its importance in Mexican history and tourism. Our tour guides did an incredible job of incorporating cultural activities to help you get familiar with Mexican drinking customs and get to know the other tourists on your trip! We played loteria, learned how to drink traditional mezcal, ate some traditional candies, and got to play some classic drinking games on our way to the island, as well as on the way back. This is also a great opportunity to ask questions and learn more about the Xochimilco ecosystem, and the guides are very knowledgeable about what is grown in the area, the conservation of axolotls, as well as how Xochimilco is maintained! The tour itself is approximately 2.5 hours but it definitely felt longer and that was great! I will 100% return in the future with more friends and family, as this was the highlight of my entire week in Mexico City. Un fuerte abrazo y saludos - los turistas de Nueva York. 🫶🏼
This was such a fun tour. They were super friendly and knowledgeable of the area and made us all feel so comfortable. They also knew a lot about the island and provided great background in how it came to be. We had an amazing day and I strongly recommend doing this one as it was in the preserve, away from the other boats.
We hired a motorized boat, Xolito ~Xperience and had the best of time. The group leader, Alan was extremely knowledgeable about the history and he made it fun. I give this a five star event and it's off my bucket list. Don't believe the naysayers stating that the island is gone because it's not. They probably went to the fake island. Whole trip was around three hours.
Very fun and entertaining! Tour guides were extremely friendly and even participated in the games. Food and drinks were provided. 100% recommend! :)
We are very happy to know that you enjoyed it, we hope you come back soon.
