Itinerary

Admission included75 min

If the option is elected, you will start with the Frida Kahlo Museum visit. It is also known as La Casa Azul ("Blue house") because of its vivid blue colour, the home she shared with Diego Rivera. Inside, you’ll find original artworks, intimate keepsakes, and richly preserved spaces that tell the story of Frida’s life, her creative spirit, and her deep connection to Mexico’s cultural and political identity. Though optional, it’s widely considered a must-see for anyone visiting Mexico City.

30 min

Food is at the heart of this journey. Carefully curated in collaboration with renowned Mexican Chef Abel Hernandez, each tasting showcases the flavors locals truly love. For the first tasting stop, you’ll visit a local market to enjoy tostadas prepared fresh by longtime vendors.

30 min

For your last savory stop, step into the Antojitos market for a tasting of classic Mexican antojitos–expect an array of small bites of classic dishes such as griddled quesadillas, crispy gorditas, and ceviche, all packed with fresh, authentic flavors.

30 min

As you move through cobblestone streets and shaded courtyards, you’ll visit Parroquia San Juan Bautista, one of the city’s oldest churches and a striking example of colonial architecture.

30 min

To finish on a sweet note, cool off with handmade ice cream at the famous Fuente de los Coyotes, one of Coyoacan’s most iconic spots.

60 min

You’ll continue on your second stop to taste one of Mexico City’s most iconic street foods: a taco al pastor, carved straight from the spit, finished with the sweetness from pineapple. From there, you will discover another neighborhood restaurant to enjoy a torta de milanesa, a crispy, flavor-packed sandwich the locals love. As the afternoon unfolds, stroll through the heart of Coyoacan at Plaza Hidalgo, a picturesque square lined with historic buildings, leafy trees, and lively streets. It's the perfect place to slow down into the neighborhood's rhythm, with your guide sharing the stories of this charming enclave that has inspired generations of artists.

We didn’t get what we paid for

It is really sad to book a tour and not get what we were expecting. The day we booked the tour the title read “ Mexico City: Coyoacan Tacos Small Group Tour & Frida Kahlo Museum” and when we started the tour we were told by Paloma that the Frida Kahlo museum was not included. She tried to contact the tour operator and they didn’t offer us any alternative to visit the museum. The reality is that we booked the tour but we were mainly interested in going to the museum so we were disappointed although the food tour with Paloma was really nice. When the tour finished, I contacted viator and the alternatives they offered were paying for other tours with a 5% discount! This is unfair because the tour title read that it was both activities. To make things worse I checked again and the new tour title was “ Mexico City: Coyoacan Tacos Small Group Tour & Optional Frida Kahlo Museum.” This evidently shows that they used a misleading tour title (I can share screenshots from both tour titles). I expect much more from viator that offering me to pay AGAIN.

Operator response

Dear Ximena, Thank you very much for taking the time to share your feedback. We're truly sorry to hear that the experience didn’t match your expectations, especially regarding the visit to the Frida Kahlo Museum — we completely understand how disappointing that must have felt. We’d like to clarify that the tour you booked is one of two versions we offer: 1. Coyoacan Tacos Small Group Tour that ends at the Frida Kahlo Museum (without entry included). 2. Coyoacan Tacos Small Group Tour and a pre-booked Frida Kahlo Museum entry. In your case, the booking was for the first option — the food tour only — which is reflected in the “What’s Included” section of the voucher. That said, we understand that this information appears later in the voucher and isn’t immediately visible during the booking process, which can understandably lead to confusion. We also recognize how frustrating it must have been to find out on the day of the tour that museum entry wasn't included — especially since tickets to the Frida Kahlo Museum often sell out at least one to two weeks in advance. Unfortunately, this means it’s not possible for the guide or operator to offer same-day entry as an alternative. Paloma did her best to check in with our team, but at that stage, we were unable to secure tickets due to availability constraints. We truly appreciate your feedback, which helps us continue improving clarity and transparency on the booking platforms.
